This 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 was purchased by the seller’s father in 1975 and underwent a refurbishment between 2000 and 2010. It is finished in Signal Red over tan leather upholstery and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15″ steel wheels, a digital stereo, air conditioning, and a heated rear window. The car was acquired by the seller in 2020, and work has since involved rebuilding the carburetors and rack and pinion steering as well as replacing the rear main seal, differential seal, fuel tank, brake master cylinder, exhaust system, coolant hoses, cam cover gaskets, and ignition components. This E-Type is now offered with a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Signal Red and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Touch-ups were performed in 2020, and the doors and rear hatch were adjusted. Features include dual side mirrors, an antenna, a forward-hinged louvered hood, tinted windows, and quad exhaust outlets.

The 15″ steel wheels feature polished covers and are mounted with Cooper thin-whitewall tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering and four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The front shocks, upper ball joints, and steering rack boots were replaced while the rack and pinion was rebuilt in 2020. A replacement brake master cylinder was installed in 2023.

The 2+2 cabin was refreshed in the early 2000s and features seating surfaces trimmed in tan leather. The air conditioning receiver drier was replaced in 2023, and a digital vintage-look radio, replacement speakers, and a subwoofer were installed in 2020.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 57k miles, approximately 3k of which were added by the seller. The speedometer cable was replaced in 2022.

The 5.3-liter V12 features quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 314 horsepower and 349 lb-ft of torque when new. Pertronix electronic ignition and an aluminum radiator have been installed, and the cooling hoses, drive belts, intake manifold gasket, cam cover gaskets, ignition wires, and distributor rotor were replaced in 2020. A replacement starter and exhaust manifold were installed in 2021, the spark plugs were replaced in 2022, and a replacement fuel tank installed in 2023.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, which was installed in place of the factory automatic gearbox some time ago. A replacement stainless-steel exhaust system was installed during the refurbishment. The rear main seal and differential gasket were replaced and the differential fluid changed in March 2024.
