I have been asked to sell the afore mentioned and documented motorcar for Mr. Ivor Toms, as he has no e-bay account.

It has always been my aim to document the motorcar as it really is, and not try to present the vehicle as something it is not. As all the documentation show, this is truly a fantastic opportunity to invest in this very low mileage, superb condition E-Type Series III that was purchased and remained in the same town for all its 31 years.

This car comes with a full Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Trust Production Trace Record Certificate no 22032

The cars history –
Adrian Roger Parker purchased the E-Type Jaguar V12 Series III.

Mr. Parker ran a successful electronics business in the St Austell area. He was at the time of his life when he thought it was time to reward himself for the hard work that had been put in to make his business such a success.

The car was ordered and then purchased from A. J. Beal Limited at Exeter on 10th September 1973, and the car was collected on the 12th September 1973 where upon Mr. Parker took receipt of the E-type. However the car was not registered until
18th September 1973.

Mr. Parker had the cherished registration 5 RAF, which was requested to be registered on the car from brand new; we feel this was the reason for the car not being registered until the 18th September 1973.

It was the owners pride and joy, only traveling on occasional dry weather. It was perfectly dry stored for a period of 17 years from approximately 1985, hence the low miles and the immaculate original condition.

Upon Mr. Parker’s death, his common-law wife (Ms Carol Faye Grant) then took possession of the motorcar. The car was registered in her name for obvious reasons. It stayed in the stored position; until Ivor Toms, of Ivor Toms Garage, purchased the car on 7th June 2002 with a view to restoring it to its original condition for his personal retirement reward. Mr. Toms had no vision that the car would ever be put up for sale again in his life time, thus the level of investment and time put into this project was not subject to a budget or time scale.

But alas Mr. Toms has now moved abroad and wishes to render the vehicle for sale.

Current Owners Appraisal:
E-Type Jaguar V12 series III, registration number 5 RAF.
Date of purchase: 7th June 2002
Light restoration: 8th June2002 – January 2003
Mr. Toms purchased the vehicle from Ms Carol Grant with the full intension of restoring this particular motorcar to its original condition for his sole use and never intended to make it available for sale in his own lifetime.

I feel it is essential to mention that Mr. Toms has the enviable reputation of handling all his customers with care, consideration and delivering exceptionally well executed quality workmanship, I suppose it does help that his son is the driving force within the workshop.

Mr. Toms himself has restored many, many classic cars and vintage motorbikes over the years, with a vast amount of knowledge and success.

Various items such as sub-mounts on the rear frame was replaced, break pipes other minor items too numerous to mention. But any part that has been replaced has been kept for the purpose of inspection. Some nuts, bolts or washers have either been re-anodized, nickel plated or chromed all to the original specification. This now allows them to be described as original.

The paintwork was in good condition, but because of Mr. Tom’s fastidious nature for perfection, noticing minor imperfections due to being stored for the last 17 years it was decided to re-spray the car from bare metal up to the original Jaguar specification.

Needless to say every panel is the original and in perfect condition

The underside of the car is in such good condition because it was subject to a coating of ziebart from brand new. This was removed from the engine compartment and the undercarriage, hence no rust was found in these areas either.

The interior is original, and looks spectacular for its age. We feel we must add that all the chrome on the car is original.

From new the car came with chrome press steel wheels, Mr. Toms having owned three convertibles and three 2+2’s, thought it would be fitting to have chrome wire wheels. Needless to say the original chrome wheels have been kept in storage. A full stainless steel exhaust system has been fitted with the long-term view in mind.

The car is kept in a Carcoon, which is an electronically controlled constant airflow of circulated air around the vehicle.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
