The E-type offered here is a 1973 V12 S3 FHC (2+2) automatic with just 62,000 miles from new and full service history. Finished in Teal blue with lovely navy leather and fully refurbished Webasto sunroof.

The car is said to have benefited from a recent new starter motor, stainless steel exhaust and poly bushed suspension. The file contains many invoices for work carried out. A £3,000 Alpine stereo has been installed with all the amps hidden out of sight.

Guide Price: £17500 to £19000

For sale at Arun Independent Jaguar and Performance Car Dealers for £49,995. Seller's description below.

This home market right hand drive is an automatic example and was first registered on 1 September 1973 by University Motors Kingston to Lionel Frogatt, it was supplied in the colours that it sports today and is therefore highly desirable. There are MoT certificates and work invoices stretching back to 1984 detailing the mileage throughout the file. Finished in Azure Blue with superbly patinated Blue hide and Blue Webasto sliding roof and chrome wire wheels. We regard this car as a very good example which starts on the button and drives extremely well. A Jaguar Heritage certificate accompanies the excellent history. A new 12 months MoT will be issued upon sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
