The Interior
Red leather
2+2 seating arrangement
Beautifully patinated
Stepping inside, it becomes immediately apparent that this E-Type’s interior has weathered in extremely nicely. The red leather perfectly complements the silver exterior colour and there is an exceedingly pleasing degree of patination adorning the seats and controls.
There was no damage anywhere we could see and besides a little creasing to the bolsters, the seats appear in excellent condition. The dashboard too looks to be undamaged and the switchgear all functions exactly as it should.
The red carpeting is new and looks especially smart and the headlining, which was replaced along with the door cards in 2012, is perfectly supported and with no staining or marks we could see.
With the exception of a modern radio, there are no aftermarket additions and the interior has a really original look and feel. The flexibility of the higher roof line and extra rear seating makes this a roomy cabin, perfect for grand touring.
The Exterior
Silver paintwork
Period correct chrome wheels
Smart brightwork
On the outside, this E-Type presents very well, the silver paintwork really suiting its sleek lines.
We would describe the attractive silver paintwork as exceedingly good and while the vendor points out the odd small stone chip here and there, it really does look fantastic from every angle.
The bodywork appears very straight and we were unable to see any corrosion. All of the brightwork looks to be free from damage and there was no pitting or corrosion to report.
It sits upon period-correct Jaguar chrome wheels and the vendor reports that the tyres are Pirelli P600's of original specification and have plenty of tread remaining.
The Mechanics
5.3-litre V12
Manual gearbox
Used sparingly as it is part of a private car collection
The vendor informs us that this Jaguar starts and runs exactly as it should and really is a joy to drive. The vendor purchased the vehicle 12 years ago and has spent considerable time and money to make sure its fantastic looks were reflected in how well it ran and drove.
These V12 E-Type Jaguars are grand tourers in the truest sense and were designed for long road trips. This E-Type is very happy to cruise in top gear, although is equally able to become more playful when conditions allow. With a manual gearbox this is a really engaging machine out on the road and it rides a huge wave of torque generated by that sumptuous V12.
The car has only been driven 2,500 miles with the current owner and only 500 miles have been driven in the last 5 years. Owing to the size of the vendor's classic car collection, they do not have the time to use all of the vehicles as much as they would like. The vendor remarks that the Jaguar is so fantastic to drive that it deserves to go to someone who has the opportunity to use it regularly.
