    Market Opinion

"This was a fair price for what seemed to be an honest car, in a good color scheme. The V12s are cruisers more than sports cars, and are good for going 70 mph all day long on mildly challenging roads."

    Sellers description:
This 1974 XKE V12 Convertible is a Palm Springs, CA car in classic British Racing Green with Biscuit interior, Automatic Transmission, Air Conditioning, 43600 mile car with all indications that this is original mileage. All chrome & wire wheels in excellent condition with new Michelin XH4 Radials ( including spare ) Plus features include genuine E Nardi steering wheel in like new condition, a new Optima battery, and a chrome luggage trunk rack . All instruments work and are accurate INCLUDING the electric clock. the engine runs strong with no indication of wear. All disks & pads are fine though brakes squeal until used a few times. One of the indications of original mileage is original hose clamps on most of the hoses. I have ordered a complete hose kit and will do a replacement upon arrival . I have had the car on my lift & very much like what I see. I detect no indication of rust and virtually no indication of leaks ( it is British )

How I acquired the car & why some things will remain unknown

I am a car collector & hobbyist with 5 cars in a 3 car garage Either the XKE or the wife needs to go. I purchased the car through a conservator handling the estate of an incapacitated individual living in the Palm Springs area who was very reluctant to sell the car therefor it would be insensitive of me to attempt to bird dog the owner to glean bits & pieces of information. Suffice to say, it looks great & runs great. Having shown many cars at concours, I estimate this to be a strong 90 point car. No, it's not a 100 point JCNA Trailer queen but the going price for those is over 75K. The top is black, in very good shape, and all glass is clear with no pitting. I think it would really be worth your while to see and drive the car to know you made a great purchase & could live with the very few minor glitches that will be found on a 31 year old car.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
