Auction description:
1974 Jaguar Series III Roadster
Registration No: UUB 747 M
Chassis No: IS 2461
Engine No: 7S 13433SA
Famously launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type created a furore. Its combination of supercar performance, superb styling and low price tag was unrivalled. Early sportscar racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori amongst others cemented the E-Type's reputation. Ten years on and the sales success of the E-type had made it a familiar face. The Series II version had seen a raft of detail changes but it was the heavily revised Series III model introduced that year that truly changed the mould. Flared wheelarches and an egg crate grille gave it a more muscular stance and the increased wheelbase made for more cabin space. However, the Series III's greatest asset was its new 5.3 litre V12 engine. Now heralded as one of the all time great production engines it developed 272bhp and 304lbft of torque in this guise. The resulting 150mph top speed and 0-60mph sprint time of 6.5 seconds were tempered by ventilated front discs and a wider track front and rear. Poise was improved still further by the incorporation of anti-dive geometry for the front suspension. This particular 1974 Roadster is the desirable manual version and benefits from the optional wire wheels. Finished in sky blue with a black leather interior it is in good overall condition. In the current ownership since 1986, it has covered just 18,000 miles from new and importantly has never been subject to any restoration or major repair. Highly original but not immaculate it is now as one would have expected to find it streetside some twenty years ago! Offered for sale with V5 registration document, MOTs from 1986 to date (the current certificate expires on 24th June 2002), road tax and history file, its colour scheme and low mileage must make it a unique proposition.
Estimate: £25,000 - £28,000

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
