Car to be at auction 6/13
www.bonhams.com/auctions/20928/lot/112/

Auction description:
15 Jun 2013 15:00 BST Oxford
Collectors' Motor Cars
Lot 112
1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
Registration no. ANW 213M
Chassis no. 1S2241
Engine no. 7S12997SA
Estimate:
£35,000 - 40,000
€41,000 - 47,000
US$ 55,000 - 62,000

This E-Type roadster has had four owners since 1977 and was extensively restored at during 1990 by Thornes Jaguar, Wakefield (see numerous invoices on file). Last taxed for the road in 1989, it currently displays a total of 45,063 miles on the odometer and is finished in Royal Blue with re-trimmed blue leather interior and matching carpets. An original handbook, sales and service booklets and Swansea V5 accompany the car. A very good solid example. In storage for several years, the car will require re-commissioning before further use and thus is sold strictly as viewed.

Ebay item 11/5/13
www.ebay.com/itm/121149653085
Classified ad price: GBP 69,995. 45k miles.

Sellers description:
This E-Type roadster has had only two owners in the last 23 years (total of 4 owners in the registration document) and formed part of an extensive collection for the last 20 years. It was fully restored, both mechanically and cosmetically prior to entering this collection by Thornes Jaguar, Wakefield (see numerous invoices on file). Last taxed for the road in 1989, it currently displays a total of 45,063 miles on the odometer and is finished in Azure Blue with blue leather interior and matching carpets. An original handbook, sales and service booklets accompany the car and the current mileage is believed to be correct.
Arun have recommissioned the car for use and have added a brand new set of wire wheels and a mohair tonneau to finish. The engine bay is beautifully detailed and this has to be the lowest priced RHD matching numbers example on the market today in this condition with this mileage.

This 1973 example comes in S3 V12 roadster form. The colour is Azure Blue, an original option, the wire wheels are chrome plated and the roof comes down - this car was made to be driven in glorious sunshine. This is Britain though , so if the climate is not conductive to E Type ownership, the car will more than make up for miserable meteorology. What a stunner!

The mileage is shown as only 46,450, which is believed to be genuine, although sadly there is insufficient documentary proof. The car is said to be original, with matching numbers and in an unrestored condition, its condition is a tribute to its former owners. The current vendor has owned the car since 2014 and has done little more than 1,300 miles in that time, the car having been used only in the summer months.

It comes with a mass of invoices, two old MoTs and an engineers report from 2017. The file shows the car has been well maintained with the only deviation from standard being electronic ignition. It is tax and MoT exempt with the last MoT carried out in April 2017, around 800 miles ago, when the car passed with no advisories.

This is a rare, unmolested original example in a stunning standard colour. The lucky owner will have a lot to live up to.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
