51,339 MILES, ON EBAY 06/08, SELLER WRITES: You are looking at a RARE survivor 1973 Jaguar V12 Series III Roadster. This car sports A/C, Automatic and has a wonderful patina. It is a car that has not been modified, beat or raced, and appears correct as far as the numbers we could find. What a unique color combination and blend of racing heritage and style. It is one of those cars that has timeless beauty and was a work of art.
This car runs and drives well, it shows well from 5 feet, and appears complete. We noticed a bit of oil dribbling as most of these cars do. Also, it has had some rust issues in the past as you can see in the photos. The lower rockers and floor pans have had some work done and may eventually need attention. The good news is that all the pieces are reproduced and you can drive the car while doing repairs or a minor restoration. We have not tested each component or extensively tested anything mechanical. The odometer reads 51339 but there is no way to validate this is legit given the year of the car. However, it runs extremely well and the car feels like a low mile example. We set the reserve at a VERY reasonable $17,500 for a quick sale.
Here are the numbers we found:
* Car: UD1S22196BW
* Body: 4S3945
* Engine 7S10589LA
* Gearbox 10915
* Windshield UD1S22196
The Jaguar XKE Series 3 V-12 was introduced in 1971 and replaced the XKE Series 2 and 4.2-liter six cylinder engine. The new Jaguar XKE Series 3 V-12 sported a larger radiator inlet screened by formal grillwork and the addition of wheel arches that were needed to clear wider tires. This was tested by Car and Driver at the time, and the car had a top speed of 135 and 0-60 in just 5.5 seconds. As we stated - this gorgeous XKE Roadster is a dream to look at. These are also very fun to drive.
Whether you own or have always wanted a Jaguar XKE or other supercars, consider the value of these down the road – better than the stock market. This would make a great addition for the Jaguar enthusiast that has everything.
