Car for sale at:
www.christophgrohe.ch/list_of_cars/jaguar_E.html

Sellers description:
Chassis: 1S.20111. Engine: 7S.3559.SA. 06.04.1972.
Mileage: 11750 Km.
Original old english white with black leather interior, black hood and black hardtop. LHD. Two seater E-type Cabriolet. Manual 4 speed gearbox.Wire wheels.

V12 engine of 5345ccm with twin overhead camshaft, about 276 DIN HP at 5950 rpm, 4-speed gearbox. Servo assisted disc barkes. About 1515 Kg and 240 km/h, Price in 1972: CHF. 33.500.- ( Which was less than half the price of a Maserati 4700GT Ghibli Spyder ! and 10 % cheaper than a Mercedes 350 SL Cabriolet ). There were about 6200 LHD Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Cabriolet built between 1971 and 1975.

This carwas sold new to a wellknown crook living in Switzerland... He kept the car until 1974 when he went bankrupt. Then the second and last owner allways kept but almost never used the car.

Today the car is a two owner car in almost perfect original condition and with certified 12.000 Km since new.

The car is almsot perfect original condition:
* As I am actually preparing the car I cannot make any acurate description of it. I will probably have it repainted to the original colour ( as it had allready been repainted in the past but to average standards ).
* All mecanics will be checked and the car ready to enjoy. The engine bay is as new with the original stickers.
* The whole interior is original and very beautifull.
* With the car are coming: - The original warranty stamped by Garage Claparède of Geneva, - The original service leaflet ( the 10.000 Km service not having been made yet ), -The original owner manual, - The original invoice dated 1974 when the second owner bought it and prooving the car's provenience, - jack and tools with roll..., -many old press articles.

Frame : 1S 20111.
Engine : 7S 3559-SA.

Mileage : 11.800 Km.

Original white with original black leather interior and black carpets. All steel body. LHD. Two seater Cabriolet with optionnal power steering, wire wheels and hardtop fitted.

V12 all aluminium two cam engine of 5343 ccm. 276 HP at 5850 rpm. 4 speed manual gearbox, Dunlop disc brakes. Original wire wheels. About 1515 Kg and 240 Km/h. Price in 1972 : 33.500.- CHF ( Which was 6000.- cheaper than a Mercedes 350 SL and the same price than a Porsche 911 T ).

There were about 6200 similar Cabriolet built of which only 12 were sold new to Switzerland !

The car on sale was bought new on April 6th 1972 by famous painting faker Fernand Legros. On March 26th 1974 the car was sold to its second and last owner who almost never drove it. It is thus a two owner car with a surprisingly low genuine mileage.

The car is in almost perfect partly restored partly original condition:

As the car was not driven for almost 30 years it needed a lot of repair :

Complete paint in original white including removing all interior, fittings, bonnets, doors and hood and changing of all rubbers.
Complete brake overhaul. New exhaust and new tyres.
Complete engine rebuilt with 12 new pistons and liners, this work is warrantied for at least one year.

The total amount of invoices for this work are about CHF 55.000.-

Only the interior, the hood and the chrome work have not been changed. They were all in very good original condition.

With the car are comming : - JDHT Trust certificate,- original warranty, -two oil change leaflets with mileage dated 1971 and 1972, - original service booklet, - original owner manual, - jack and tools, - original invoice of second and last owner ( the car was sold by Legros’s lawyer as the former was sued for unpaid hotel invoices of the Intercontinental… )., - invoices of the work recently done.

Today the car must be one of the most beautifull E V12 Cabriolet existing. Furthermore it has a most interesting history and is fitted with the sought fater specifications as lefthand drive, manual gearbox, wire wheels and hardtop.

The car has Swiss road documents with «Veteranen-Eintrag ».

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
