Ebay item 2/22/05

Opening bid $65,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. Auction is based from San Leandro, California.

Sellers description:
1971 JAGUAR XKE V12 ROADSTER "RAREST V12 XKE--ONLY KNOWN '71 ROADSTER PAINTED ASCOT FAWN". What many Jaguar enthusists don’t realize is that when you look at the Series III production by year and model, you discover a little known fact that the 1971 V12 Roadster is the RAREST of any Jaguar E-Type produced. Thanks to the efforts of Mike Cook, at the Jaguar Archives, it has been determined that the total production for 1971 V12 Roadsters was 101 units. Making it the lowest production E-Type built. Mike was also able to determine that 102 units were put into production and that car #3 (1S20003) was scrapped during production and never completed, thereby making the official production count 101 units. Over the past 25 years I have had a personal mission to see how many of these amazing cars still exist and so far I have only located 9 cars; #1, 6, 10, 49, 50, 51, 52 and 68. There were 6 - 1971 V12 Roadsters painted Ascot Fawn, but my car 1S20068, is the only known survivor. This car has an amazing 39,000 original miles and was purchased from the original owner in 2004. It has a 4 speed transmission, radio delete, original convertible top, original interior, 5 original tires. The paint is mostly original but is showing some checking. If you are looking for one of the most collectible XKE's in existence, this is it. The car is not perfect, would probably score 80 points out of 100 at a JCNA event, but it is the most original XKE I have seen. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW ONE OFFERED!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I have a 1971 Series II XKE Roadster...it's Ascot Fawn. Were the 1971 SII's , painted in Ascot Fawn, as rare as the V12's of the same year?

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
