Purchased by the vendor in July 2001, the distinctively-registered DON 22K has been enjoyed and used mainly for regular annual journeys to France for a week of touring each May to visit the delights of Epernay, the Loire, Normandy, La Rochelle and other beautiful destinations.
Bought through the chairman of the West Sussex JEC, the current owner was advised that the previous owner had been custodian of the car for 17 years and informed that the engine was rebuilt at 68,000 miles, approximately 60,000 miles previously.
At the time of purchase in 2001 the E-Type was professionally waxoyled to help keep corrosion at bay in the future and a certificate in the history file attests to this. In the present ownership, the car attended the E-Type 40th anniversary celebrations at Donnington Park and took part in the lap of the circuit and ten years later attended the 50th anniversary celebrations at Silverstone in July 2011.
Well-maintained, DON 22K has recently been serviced and MOT tested and the vendor states that although the car has never been restored, it has been well-maintained, drives well and with its manual gearbox has no problem keeping up with modern traffic.
Paperwork included in the sale of the car features MOT certificates from June 1983 to August 2012, with just one missing, and service and repair bills from July 2000 onwards. Also included is a JDHT certificate and repair manual, together with the Brooklands Jaguar V12 book.
