Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 OTS
Excellent Car for Restoring

In the early 1990s this E-Type became parked in a garage and remained parked until I was given the opportunity to acquire this rare find. Due to a light accident, the owner took the car off the road and kept it in his garage. As time passed the previous owner attempted to repair the car himself and never completed the repairs. The damage from the accident was only to the right front end of the bonnet. This car is a work in progress.

This car has been kept in South Carolina since at least the mid 1980s. This E-Type is a running and driving car. It is not the original color. The original color of this car was Warwick Gray. The color is now a faded white and red primer. The bonnet has paint stripped off where the previous owner was working on repairs. Gauges and speedometer are functioning on the car. The front end of the car feels tight. It has great performance and runs well. I have performed a major service on this car. All spark plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser have been replaced; oil and oil filter have been changed; fluids drained and replaced; rebuilt triple carburetors; replaced air filter and seal with new ones. Brakes are functioning.

Equipped with triple SU HD8 carburetors. These carburetors allows the car to perform like a Series I E-Type or a European Series II E-Type. It comes equipped with optional air conditioning that was available in 1969 and original tinted glass. The car also comes with an after market, black hardtop that resembles the original hardtop. It has 5 chrome wire wheels, the jack, the hammer, and the brass wrench in the bag.

Current bid $12,465 reserve not met, 9 bids 6 days left in auction. Now located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Sellers description:
Matching numbers car that was involved some years ago in a minor accident to the right front corner of the bonnet. The accident seems to only have affected the bonnet as everything else is very straight. The prior owner tried to straighten the bonnet a little but more work is needed to ft the bonnet properly. The doors and trunk lid fit well and engine frame is straight. Originally the car was silver with blue interior, which I find to be a very attractive color combination. At some point in time it was repainted white. The car is currently in gray primer.

Mechanically the car starts right up and engine sounds very good. Engine does not smoke nor is it an oil leaker. Clutch and gearbox feel fine. It has a new fuel pump, gasoline tank was cleaned, carbs rebuilt, new ignition and the brakes serviced, As mentioned before the engine is original to the car. One BIG advantage is that the car has been converted to the triple SU carburetors of the earlier series 1 cars. This same carb setup was used on the European version of the series 2 e-type. Notice in the photos that the conversion included the proper air cleaner drum and triangular plenum. The car comes with factory air conditioner which will need to be serviced but the components are there. Also included is a removable hardtop in very good condition. These were made in the 1960s by a company in California. The back Plexiglas was just replaced.

The soft top is blue canvas but has some holes and will need to be replaced. Most of the interior can be used; the seats are in good condition with no tears on the leather. The tires are very old and I would strongly recommend replacing them. The chassis and undercarriage are straight and solid. There is a rust area about 6 inches long on the trunk floor (under the gasoline tank) that should be an easy fix with a metal patch. There is a photo taken from under the car which shows the hole. The doors are usually the first thing to rust on a Jaguar and as you can see in one of the photos these are very good.

This is the type of car you can make into a driving restoration. Fix the essentials right now (paint, tires, etc) and make improvements over time. The extra features of the triple carbs, AC and hardtop will make this car more desirable than a standard series 2 XKE when you are done. Plus you get to pick whatever color you want for the car.

Included is a Jaguar Heritage Certificate which certifies that all the numbers (VIN, engine, body and gearbox) match on the car.

Previous auction ended at $16,200 reserve not met after 44 bids.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
