This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was purchased by the current owner in 1984, and it subsequently underwent a refurbishment that was completed in the mid-1980s. The car was recommissioned by the seller in early 2025 after being stored for approximately 25 years, with work that involved repainting the hood, rebuilding the carburetors, repairing wiring, cleaning the fuel tank, changing the fluids, and replacing ignition parts, belts, hoses, and clutch cylinders. Finished in white with a black soft top over black leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an AM/FM radio. This XKE is now offered in Ohio by the seller on behalf of the owner with refurbishment photos, service records, awards and trophies, a tool roll, and a Michigan title in the owner’s name.
The car was repainted in Cream during the 1980s refurbishment, the seller tells us. The hood was repainted in early 2025 to correct heat blistering, and a stainless-steel heat shield was added. The black soft top was replaced in the 1980s, and other exterior equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, a driver-side mirror, bright trim, wraparound chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. The door and window seals were replaced and the wiper motor was rebuilt in early 2025. Paint deterioration is noted on the rocker panels.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by knock-off hubs and are mounted with Universal Sport whitewall tires measuring 205/70. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake reservoir was replaced in preparation for the sale.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting. Interior appointments include an AM/FM radio, seatbelts, sun visors, and a locking glovebox. The heater control valve and the ignition switch were replaced in early 2025. The seller notes that the air-conditioning system was recently reassembled and reinstalled after being off the car for many years; the A/C remains inoperable.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, approximately 17k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Work performed in preparation for the sale included draining and cleaning the fuel tank, rebuilding the carburetors and the distributor, repairing the radiator support, installing a fan relay, and also replacing the following components:
Starter
Battery and battery cables
Spark plugs
Ignition rotor, points, and condenser
Distributor cap
Thermostat and housing
Coolant hoses
Belts
Fuel lines and filter
Throttle bushing
Oil-pressure sending unit
Rust is noted in the battery box, and the seller states that acid in that area has been remediated.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch cylinders were replaced in early 2025.
An album containing hundreds of images taken during the 1980s refurbishment will accompany the vehicle. The car scored 978.60 points out of 1,000 at a Jaguar Clubs of North America event in 1993, paperwork for which also is included in the sale.
The car’s chassis number is 1R7895, whereas the Michigan title substitutes a letter I in place of the number 1, with the title citing the VIN sequence IR7895. The replacement identification tag also displays IR7895 as the car number.
