Vehicle Description

Jaguar 1969 XKE Roadster with Custom Rumble Seat. I purchased this car 22 years ago from the Vice President of the Jaguar Club in Atlanta, Georgia. He bought this car with 72,000 miles on it. Took the motor and transmission out, taking it to the Jag dealer in Atlanta, Georgia which is a 5 Star Jaguar service dealership. Had the motor completely done, everything new in the engine, have all the receipts. Also restored the transmission to new condition. Had one dent in the back driver's side repaired on a totally rust free body. Had the car repainted to a silver which was originally white. When I bought the car I changed the odometer in it because the face of the other one was not in very nice shape. When I put this odometer in it, it had roughly 35,000miles. Since I have owned the car I have put 17-18,000 miles on it. To this day this car starts up imediately and runs beautiful. I own many cars and this one is probably the best running car I have ever owned. It runs very strong, rides unbelievably well for a sports car with very quick response seering. The motor compartment is in very impressive condition. When taking off this thing sounds like a lion roaring and when letting off the gas pedal it just crackles. This thing sounds nicer than any set of duals put on any of the V8's in the 50's. New wire wheels and knock-offs within the last three years. I custom built a rumble seat for this car because when I purchased the car I had young children that wanted to go with us. I purchased another deck lid splitting it in half and using it not damaging the original deck lid. I have all the original trunk parts to put back in original condition if someone wants it that way. I did not have to alter anything from the original to put this in. It's an awesom family car- the kids just loved it.

Car returns to ebay 1/7/05

Current bid $5,100.00 (Reserve not met), 3 bids, 6 days left in auction. Car location for this sale is New Jersey, USA. 53k miles.

Sellers description:
This is a beautiful Series II 4.2L E-Type Jaguar Roadster. Starts immediately and runs strong. With the modified exhaust system, this car takes off with the roar of a lion and when letting off, the system just crackles. The engine and transmission were overhauled in 1979 (I have the receipts). The engine is in good shape; the transmission is occasionally stiff going from 2nd to 3rd. I had a complete Inspect and Repair sequence over the Summer of 2004. This included an overhaul of the complete fuel system (overhauled gas tank, new fuel pump, and rebuilt carburetors). The tie rods, ball joints, and tires were replaced. A complete list of the repairs is provided in the illustrations. The heater fan motor, fan cage, heater core, and water control valve were also replaced. The silver paint is in excellent condition, with only a few stone chips on the underside. Upon close examination, we found only two rust spots on the car, one under the fuel tank and the other in the passenger foot well; both were remediated. Since a previous owner replaced the speedometer, the milage shown is approximate. If you are looking for a drivable E-Type, this is the one...

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
