This 1969 Jaguar XKE Roadster is a Series II example that is finished in Daimler Silver Grey over red leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter straight-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes chrome 15″ wire-spoke wheels, chrome bumpers with overriders, a black soft top, a wood-rim steering wheel, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/shortwave radio. The car was first sold at Ed Roth Inc. of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and was acquired by the current owner in 2015, after which a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment was carried out. This XKE Series II Roadster is now offered with partial service records, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, manufacturer’s literature, a copy of the 1969 sales invoice, and a Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
In 2015, the car was reportedly stripped to the bare metal, body imperfections were repaired, and a repaint was performed in Daimler Silver Grey. Equipment includes a black soft top, wrap-around chrome bumpers with overriders, a mirror mounted to the driver’s door, side reflectors, and open headlights.
Chrome 15” wire wheels are secured by three-lobed knock-off hubs and are mounted with Coker Classic redline tires. The front and rear suspension components were refreshed with new shock absorbers, bushings, and hardware. The four-wheel disc brakes were also overhauled during the refurbishment with rebuilt calipers as well as new pads and rotors.
The bucket seats are upholstered in red leather with matching door panels, sills, and carpeting along with a contrasting black dashboard. Amenities include air conditioning, a locking glove box, lap seatbelts, a rebuilt clock, and a factory Blaupunkt AM/FM/shortwave radio. The seller states the air conditioning compressor was replaced.
A wood-rim steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a rebuilt 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure are housed in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features dual overhead camshafts and is fueled by dual Stromberg carburetors. The seller states the engine was rebuilt during the 2015 refurbishment that included removing, cleaning, and reinstalling the hardware. The alternator, starter, and cooling system were also rebuilt at this time. The fan motors were disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated before being refinished.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
The Pennsylvania title is branded “Antique” and “Out of Country.”
