Ebay item 7/19/04
SFFT1000@AOL.COM
Vehicle Condition
The car is in need of restoration. The bad news first: The original British racing green color has been repainted some years ago and is old and peeling. There are many small but obvious scrapes, scratches and dents. There is in particular one small but definite 'hole' by the rear driver side fender caused by having backed the car into a steel girder! The rear glass window on the tailgate has begun to collapse into the gate. The speedometer and odometer are not working. The windscreen is cracked significantly. Now for the good news: There are no signs of any major accidents, all the car parts lines up very well all around and would seem original, the interior is fairly nice, mostly original, the original wood steering wheel is very attractive, the original wood knob gear shifter is in good condition, the headliner and seats were reupholstered some time ago and are very decent, both front and rear seats are not torn or damaged, the wire wheels are in excellent shape, the manual front windows both work, the radio works and above all the car has a very nice ride, the supension and engine seem to be in very good shape and due to having been garage kept in southern California this particular Jaguar has virtually no rust!

Sellers description:
An excellent opportunity to own an original British racing green color 1970 XKE 4.2 6 cylinder automatic Jaguar with a rebuilt engine, highly desired chromed wire Jag wheels and virtually no rust! This classic would make an easy project for the right individual! The car runs and rides exceptionally well - no noticeable problems with the suspension, engine or transmission . Purchased in 1993 from the original owner, serviced for the most part at the reknown 'XK's Unlimited' in San Luis Obispo, California. Recent maintenance includes : In May 2000 the upper and lower timing chains were replaced, the main bearing rod and cam replaced, piston set replaced. (Cost $1235.81) In June 2000 the tappet guides and oil pump were replaced. (Cost $422.38) In October 2001 by Silver Motors of Long Beach, California, the cylinder head had a valve job with new exhaust, steering hoses and radiator at the same time. (Cost $2473.17) In March 2002 the rear rotors and brake pads were replaced (Cost $118.94)In January 2004 the brake reservoir and M/C were replaced (Cost $124.50) Service records available. The car comes with the original handbook and some spare parts. This car whilst being a definite project is most attractive because it is (a) running and (b) virtually rust free!
