Ebay item 4/15/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-6C-4-2L-1969-SERIES-2-JAGUAR-XKE-2-2-4-SPE ...
Opening bid $7k no reserve, no bids yet, 9 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This rare, 1969 Jaguar XKE 4-Speed 2+2 is original and in average condition. It was originally owned by Glen Marsh in Danville, KY, who sold it to the Front Row Auto in Nicholasville, KY. It’s a Series 2, only 5,326 were ever built between 1969-1971. It’s a great daily driver as is, but with a little elbow grease, it could be perfect. Having worked on British cars for over 20 years, we picked it up with plans to fully restore, until we discovered a 68’ MGB-GT and 68’ Roadster down the road. It’s a rare, highly-sought, investment grade vintage automobile, in need of someone to finish the job we started. Below is a breakdown of each component:
Interior: Beige, leather interior. All original gauges w/ after-market bullets. Front seats are good, back seats need to be conditioned. Driver side floorboard is rusted, needs to be patched or welded.
Exterior: Structurally sound, body is straight, fit is good. Features original chrome wire wheels w/ knockoff spinners. Lenses are perfect, and chrome is in good condition as well. We don’t have the front and rear windshield chrome, and there’s a slight wrinkle in the nose area of the bun.
Mechanicals: Starts, runs, and sounds good. No rattles, knocks, or smoke. Features a 4.2 liter in-line 6. Clutch is fine, transmission shifts well, brakes are a little soft. Float bowls need new gaskits and carbs should be re-built for maximum performance.
Vehicle Condition
As it stands, this 69’ is the perfect specimen for a complete restoration. It’s all there, and with a little elbow grease, it can be fully restored to a $20,000 vehicle. Had we not come across a pair of 68’s, here was our direction with the vehicle:
- Re-build the carbs ($350)
- Re-build brakes and master cylinder ($350)
- Weld new floorboard on driver’s side ($250)
- New paint and minor body work ($2500)
That’s about it. For a purchase price of $7900 + $3450 in the above investments, you’ll have showroom car for less than 12K. You can keep and enjoy it, or sell it outright for $20,000. We’re only asking $7,900. Don’t let someone beat you to it, use “Buy It Now” and pick it up tomorrow.
