Ebay item 8/30/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1969-Jaguar-XKE-2-2_W0QQitemZ190026020420
Current bid $10k reserve not met, no bids yet, 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar XKE 4.2 2+2
I have owned this car for nearly 30 years. My parents helped my purchase when I was 19 years old and I have pretty much taken care of all upkeep since then. The car is as original as any car of this age. It was painted in 1981 and the front seats were recovered at this time. I have made a few modifications which I thought were worth while. With the craze for originality, I now wish that I had foregone some of these items. Nothing I have done would be difficult to undo.

This is a real car. Mileage is less than 20K at the time of this writing. I have documentation which I will provide to the prospective buyers. I want this car to go to someone who will care for it as much as I have and hopefully more so. I had hoped that someday I would have the time and money to indulge on this Cat.

I now have the money but time continues to be a problem, thus my reason for selling. The car is usually in storage for two years before I break it out for a few summer rides. It is then re-winterized and put back in storage.

I have attempted to show the car to the best possible advantage to all parties concerned.

There are some small pits around the chrome bonnet strips. Always a problem area.

There is a small bubble in an area (dent) that was filled during the re-paint.

Small dent near gas fill which was supposed to be repaired during re-paint but was overlooked.

Note that there are no "Amco bars" which were an aftermarket option and that the motif bar is missing. I still have original bumpers in a box but not the motif bar.

I installed Series III bumpers so that bonnet can be partially unbolted and swung up and out of the way for ease of maintenance without scratching bumpers.

Windshield and rear window gaskets replaced along with some of door rubbers.

The car has the early 3 carb set-up. Much easier to live with than the twin Stromberg’s with the added bonus of better performance.

Aftermarket high-performance fan to replace the anemic twin Jaguar fans.

2 Momo steering wheels, a plus for anyone approaching 6 feet tall. I still have the original wheel, which would need to be refurbished.

The car originally had air-conditioning which I removed. I f you know anything about old Jags you know why. If not, take my word for it that they rarely worked, aided in overheating the cars at which point nothing was going to cool driver’s temperature.

Michelin Red-Lines are in good condition. Brake lines have been recently replaced and the master cylinder rebuilt. I will provide a new battery. Everything worked when the car was last put up, including the clock !

I suggest that the buyer live somewhere nearby or be able to travel to the New York area to see the car. All inquires welcome. Survey suggested and welcomed.

Car comes with two covers, assorted used but good parts and three manuals, one original factory manual, two after market plus an original spare parts book.
