Current bid US $5,555 reserve not met, 5 bids 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $15,750. 32k miles.
Sellers description:
1969 JAGUAR E-TYPE XKE 2+2 COUPE. MATCHING #'S 4.2 LITER ENGINE. AUTOMATIC GEARBOX. CHROME WIRE WHEELS. ORIGINAL COLORS OF BRITISH RACING GREEN WITH BLACK LEATHER TRIM. CALIFORNIA CAR WITH BELIEVED ORIGINAL MILES.
Offered for auction, from KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS, is this very decent Jaguar E-type. This 2+2 is a very early production 1969 model, being approximately the 309th car off the line, according to it's VIN number on the original chassis plate. This car was recently removed from longterm storage and has been off the road since 1987, about 27 years. The original color scheme appears to be the desirable British Racing Green with it's existing, highly original, black leather trim. The body on the car is exceptionally nice and completely rustfree, as seen by the photos. The glass and chromework appear all original and in very good condition overall. It has had only one modest repaint in it's current Primrose Yellow. It still wears it's pair of original-issued California license plates, and displays a Lido Isle Yacht Club sticker from the Southern California beach area.
When this car was purchased the drivetrain was out of the car. It has been re-installed for transportation purposes. The car is missing only the radiator, front crankshaft balancer, and the transmission torque converter. A new exhaust system would need to be purchased. There is a group of parts that is pictured and included with the sale of the car. The engine turns fine and may only need some simple work to get it running again. The mileage is believed to be original. The wire wheels appear very clean and in excellent condition.
Overall, this is a great car for straightforward recommissioning. It has been well preserved in the California climate for all of it's life. It is a full matching numbers, honest car with a beautiful, solid, original body. The highly original interior is presentable and usable as is, and could benefit from some minor improvements. This car represents a good opportunity for entry-level E-type ownership, and very good value in the current Jaguar market. The reserve on the car is very sensible compared with all other model Jaguar E-types.
This car is located and can be viewed in Southern California. It is sold with a clear and current CA title.
