Advertised for sale on carsales.com.au 21 November 2017, asking for “offers over AU$90,000”. Seller’s description: “This 1969 Jaguar E type is an original Australian delivered (Brysons) car. It is a factory RHD, manual. I have owned the car for 28 years, and it is time for it to go to a home that will finish the restoration that I started all that time ago. The body has been completely professionally restored, with new sills, floors, rear suspension mounting points, ETC, including brand new Engine frames (from E type fabs in the UK, (supplier of frames for the newly announced Jaguar Reborn). The bonnet has a brand new lower half of the mouth (purchased from SC Parts). Basically, the body is in primer with all the hard work done. It has been stored for many years. The car is in bits, with all major components with the car. The engine and gearbox are matching numbers. Due to the fact that the car has been dismantled for 28 years, it will be missing some parts. But as stated, all major parts are there. It will come with a new (not fitted as yet), air conditioning system that was supplied by Retro Air in the US. Includes all components (engine bay and interior) for installation. Also included is a brand new Aluminium fuel tank, (USA made), a brand new Aluminium radiator (Ron Davis racing in the US), and stainless steel exhaust (E Type Fabs Uk). These parts alone are worth over $10,000.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
