I went to Jaguar Archives in order to find the E-Types history. I am the 3rd owners therefore I know the name of the second owner. The Archives could not find first owners name nor the distributor/dealer. Is there any way I can get this information.

Thank you

Bill

Ebay item 6/28/14
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-SERIES-TWO-FHC-1970-JAGUAR-E-TYPE-XKE-SERIES-TWO- ...
Car has a buy it now price of $59,500 for 20 days.

Sellers description:
1970 JAGUAR SERIES TWO 4.2 LITER FIXED HEAD COUPE. ORIGINAL REGENCY RED /BLACK TRIM. 4-SPEED. CHROME WIRE WHEELS. FACTORY A/C. MATCHING NUMBERS. TWO-OWNER CA CAR.

KURT TANNER RESTORATIONS offers for sale, here on Ebay, an exceptional Jaguar E-type Series Two Coupe. This car was originally sold new in Encinitas, California to it's first owner. It was sold again in 1974 to it's second owner with 47,000 miles on the speedometer. It was then in the possession of this second owner for the next 40 years, still retaining it's original pair of CA blue and yellow license plates and pink slip from 1974. It was a very well loved and well maintained car. The current mileage of 99,000 is the believed original mileage, according to his heirs. It appears that the car has never been mechanically rebuilt, testament to the fact of the car receiving the utmost care and servicing on a quality Jaguar. It runs, drives, stops, steers, and holds the road wonderfully well for a car of this period. It was comprehensively cosmetically restored in 1997 by Jaguar marque specialist "More Than Just Cars" in Upland, CA and is still presenting extremely well today, as evidenced by the photos.
The restoration in 1997 involved a complete removal of glass, chrome, rubber, and interior. It was then sent out for specialist paintwork and the car's exterior body panels were stripped to bare metal. The car was then etch primed, and show quality body and paint was then carried out with great results in the original Regency Red correct Jaguar color. All of the chromework was replated to a high standard and fitted back onto the car. The glass was re-installed with a new rubber kit. The car's interior was treated to a new and correct Black trim kit with leather seats, a new seat foam kit, panel kit, carpet kit, dash top pad, etc. A new headliner was installed. Some E-types can be difficult to get in and out of. This car is fitted with a very useful smaller steering wheel. 4 brand-new Dayton stainless wire wheels were purchased and fitted with expensive Michelin 185xHR15 XVS radial tires. The car still retains it's original 5th chrome wire wheel and factory Dunlop spare tire in mint condition. The car includes photographic evidence of the complete restoration.
The car's engine compartment is highly original and received only a light detailing. It was refreshed to be in keeping with the rest of the car. The car has a small history file of maintenance and work carried out on it mechanically. The engine is clean and has very good oil pressure, registering 55 psi along the road at 2000 RPM. It settles at about 22-25 psi at hot idle. There is no smoke on start up or unfamiliar Jaguar noises. The clutch feels very nice and bites well. The gearbox shifts nice and positively through it's 4 gears with excellent syncromesh. The rear axle behaves properly and has had it's shocks replaced at some point. The brakes pull up very well. The car has no mechanical needs at all. This is an excellent driving car with original mileage and good maintenance history.
Overall, one would be hard pushed to find a better Series Two Coupe on today's market ready to drive, use, and enjoy. This Jaguar E-type has an enviable two-owner California history from new, the last owner from the past 4 decades. It is presented in it's original color scheme and has enjoyed an excellent cosmetic restoration that is still presenting beautifully. It is sold with it's original owner's operating manual and all associated warranty booklets from new, in the original Jaguar pouch. Also included is a factory workshop manual and the Robert Bentley version. This car presents very good value, as the costs of restoration to restore E-types continues to escalate. Such a nice car will prove to be a sound investment going forward. $59,500.

Now for sale in England at Silverstone auction 15th November 2014
www.silverstoneauctions.com/jaguar-e-type-series-2-coupe

Registration: tba
Chassis Number: 1R28033
Engine Number: 7R12229-9
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 4200
Year of Manufacture: 1970
Estimate (£): 35,000 - 40,000

Presented in its original colour scheme of Regency Red with a Black leather interior, this manual left-hand drive car sports chrome wire wheels and factory air conditioning. This car was delivered new to its first owner, a Dr Phyliss and Charles Butler on 12th September 1970, from Encinitas, California, USA, who in turn sold it on 29th October 1974, to a F.W. Steinberger, who kept the car until his death in 2014. Mr Steinberger was President and Chief Concours Judge of the Jaguar Club of North America for many years, cementing his enthusiasm for the marque further.

In 1997 Mr Steinberger felt that car would benefit from some attention, and being a concours judge no expense was spared in terms of parts or workmanship on a thorough restoration. The car was entrusted to Jaguar marque specialist 'More Than Just Cars' of Upland, California to carry out the work, which is recorded photographically in the history file. The glass, chrome, rubber and interior were all removed, so that the car could be stripped back to bare metal, before being etch primed and refinished in its original colour of Regency Red. At the same time, all the chrome was replated and window rubbers renewed. The interior was treated to a retrim which included new seat foam, door panels, carpets, dash top pad and a new headlining. A smaller steering wheel was also fitted to alleviate any acrobatics that usually have to be performed when getting in and out of an E-Type!

The car sits on four brand new Dayton wire wheels which are clad with Michelin 185 x HR15 XVS radial tyres. The car still retains its fifth chrome wire wheel and factory Dunlop spare which remains in mint condition, as well as retaining its original pair of yellow and blue Californian license plates and pink slip from 1974. It's a well-loved and maintained car which reflects in the current mileage of 99,000 miles which is believed original mileage according to Mr Steinberger's heirs.

The car was also used in many promotional videos and at events, the last being the premiere in Las Vegas of the movie The Mechanic , where the car was driven onto the red carpet by Jason Statham!

Overall, one would be hard pushed to find a better Series II FHC, with an enviable two owner Californian history from new, with the last owner being the custodian for the past four decades.

Offered here in its original colours, and with its owners operating manual and warranty booklets in their original Jaguar pouch, this car represents very good value as the cost of E-Type restorations continues to soar. Please note that this vehicle is currently being registered with the DVLA as a UK car in readiness for the auction.

1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Fixed Head Coupé
Lot No.: 924

Registration: SVR 52H

Engine Number: 7R12229-9
Number of cylinders: 6

Year of Manufacture: 1970
Estimate (£): 52,000 - 60,000

This particular 1970 Jaguar E-type Series II Fixed Head Coupé is finished in Regency Red with a Black leather interior and a manual gearbox and was supplied new to its first owner, Phyliss and Charles Butler on 12th September 1970, in Encinitas, California. He kept the car until 29th October 1974 then it was sold to a F.W.

The glass, brightwork, rubbers and interior were all removed, so that the car could be stripped back to bare metal, before being etch primed and refinished in its original colour of Regency Red. At the same time, all the chrome was replated and window rubbers renewed. The interior was treated to a retrim which included new seat foam, door panels, carpets, dash top pad and a new headlining. The car was also used in many promotional videos and at events, the last being the premiere in Las Vegas of the movie The Mechanic, where the car was driven onto the red carpet by Jason Statham!

Imported to the UK in 2014 and then purchased by our vendor, the car was professionally converted to right-hand drive in 2015 by respected E-type specialists, Lanes Cars. Whilst this work was undertaken, other jobs were attended to, including; fitting a new engine frame, new front suspension, attending to dents on the underside, a brand new wiring loom, and new Dunlop tyres. The engine was serviced at this time also including fresh fluids. Bills for more than £14,000 for this work are included in the history file.

This car is supplied with a Jaguar Heritage certificate, a UK V5c, an MOT until October '17, its owner's operating manual and warranty booklets in their original Jaguar pouch. With Jaguar E-type prices seemingly continue to soar, this three-owner Series II fixed head coupé is in fine condition and represents superb value in today's market.
