The 1969 left-hand drive Series 2 Coupe on offer was first registered in New York in January 1970, but spent its early life in California before being re-imported to the UK during the early '90s. At this stage it was reportedly converted to UK mechanical specification with triple SU carburettors and higher final drive. It was also stripped and repainted in its original colour of Primrose yellow. It has been in the vendor's care for five years, during which time he has fitted a stainless steel exhaust, reconditioned steering rack, polyurethane front suspension bushes and, less than 1,000 miles ago, four new Michelin tyres. He believes but does not warrant the indicated mileage of 43,000 to be correct and regards 'ANM 177H' as a "smart, solid and very useable car".

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
