Proud owner of this well cared for originally restored XKE in Northern California. I was fortunate enough to enjoy and almost identical car (same year, type and color) that my dad owned more than 47 years ago. Loved the car then, still love the car now. The most beautiful car in the world!!

Current bid $15,300 reserve not met, 4 bids, 9 days left in auction. Car now located in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Sellers description:
NUMBERS MATCHING, 4.2 Liter 1969 Jaguar E-Type Coupe !!!
This Car Is From A Private Collection . This Is Only The Second Time It Has Ever Been Offered For Sale Since It Was Purchased NEW In November Of 1969 !!!

Gary purchased this car from the original owner down South several decades ago. His career ended up taking him all over the World. All the time he kept this car here in his home town in secure, dry and climate controlled storage. Each Summer he would come home for the month of July to visit relatives and his car collection. This car was always maintained for him to drive while he was here. It was his favorite.

His Father or I would usually be in charge of seeing it was ready to go when he got here. When he left he put it back in storage until the following year. His Father would then start the car once a month and drive a few miles when the weather permitted.

A few years ago the car was dismantled for restoration. The body was stripped to bare metal, epoxy primed and refinished in the original shade of Primrose Yellow. The engine and driveline were totally rebuilt by a Jaguar professional in a distant city. Everything that needed attention was replaced or repaired. This entire process was HUGELY EXPENSIVE !!!

THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT 8,000 MILES SINCE THE RESTORATION WAS COMPLETED!!!!

HERE ARE THE DETAILS;
DATA TAG :
Manufacture Date; 10-1969
Car # 1R27038
Engine # 727939-9 ( Matches the Block Number)
Body# 1R22530
Gear Box # KE9155
VIN # 1R27038

Odometer reads 69,982 actual miles

Body- Solid and straight. Never exposed to inclement weather. I believe this car has all of it's original body panels. It has been owned by a loving, caring owner all of it's life. This car has never sat in a barn, a field or a junk yard. It has been in a loving owners garage. I don't believe the car has ever been rusty, wrecked or abused. The panel gaps are nice and the doors shut with a click. There is a small door ding on the RR 1/4 panel, two "outie" dimples on the hood from shutting it on tools and a couple of small dents in the belly pan behind the grill on the bottom.

Engine and Transmission- Correct Numbers Matching Engine. 4.2 Liter Six Cylinder. Dual 175CD-2 Stromberg Carbs, Polished Manifold with Porcellanized Exhaust Manifolds. Engine was totally rebuilt about 8,000 miles ago. We just rebuilt the carbs and installed a new water pump. Near new, correct, dual exhaust with chrome mufflers. New clutch. 4-Speed trans has been rebuilt. The car starts, runs and sounds GREAT. NO SMOKE. NO STRANGE NOISES. The car has always been maintained well and repaired with CORRECT PARTS. We waited six months to get the correct water pump from ENGLAND rather than use a cheap locally available replacement. The engine is clean but not show detailed. If you would rather show it than drive it you can re-detail it.

Paint- PPG Basecoat/Clearcoat Lacquer in the correct shade of Pale Primrose Yellow. This is a RARE and delightful color. The paint has been color sanded, buffed and glazed to a deep gloss. The car has been driven so naturally there are areas that have been touched up such as chips on the rocker panels and hood edges. These can not be avoided on a Jaguar. There are two small areas of lacquer checks. One is on the top above the hatch door and the other is on the hood near the right louvers. There is a spot on the right rocker where a touch up has peeled. I've tried to show these areas in the photos. The paint is nice and shiny.

Interior- ALL ORIGINAL. Black leather. NEVER SMOKED IN. Driver's seat has some "patina" and typical wear. Passenger seat has a 3" split on a cushion seam that could be easily repaired. The Dash is ORIGINAL and nice. Very nice Wooden Steering Wheel. Good door panels and arm rests. The car has had a JVC Stereo added but no speaker holes were cut anywhere. REAR CARGO AREA IS EXCELLENT.

Chrome- Excellent throughout !!!

Glass- Excellent . Correctly STAMPED AND DATE CODED !!! I think it is all original and yes there are probably some sand pits on the windshield since it is 40 years old and then again maybe not.

Wheels and Tires- FIVE CHROMED WIRES ( maybe they are stainless steel...I don't know...but they sure are PRETTY). Very nice. Tires are NEW Coker Classic Redline 185/R/15. Gary preferred them mounted black walls out so the redlines are on the inside. You can turn them around if you wish.

Suspension- Excellent. Anything that needed to be fixed was done during the restoration.

Other Stuff- Tool Kit in the tire well. The car runs and drives very well. The car has always been maintained properly by Jaguar professionals. Correct and proper Jaguar parts have always been used. With the exception of the radio I would say this car is correct right down to the Lucas Headlamps. This is a car that you can drive and have fun with. Drive her out to dinner. Drive her to the store. Drive her on vacation or drive her to the car show.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
