private Sale
This Jaguar E-Type Series 2 Fixed Head Coupe is a tastefully finished example of the iconic British sports car, benefiting from a recent interior retrim and notable mechanical work.
Under the bonnet is a 4.2-litre straight-six, producing around 265bhp, and driving the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
Originally a left-hand-drive US market car, this E-Type was imported to the UK in 1990.
It has since undergone a right-hand drive conversion, an exterior repaint, along with a variety of maintenance work.
The odometer indicates 50,756 miles.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4.2 FHC is now finished in Opalescent Blue over a dark blue leather-trimmed interior with a black dashboard, toggle switches, Smiths dials, a Philips radio, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel.
It rides on a set of 15-inch chromed wire wheels with twin-eared knock-off spinners, shod in Dunlop SP Sport tyres.
Included with the car is a jack, and a pair of wheel removal tools consisting of a wooden wheel spinner tool and mallet, and an engineered wheel spinner socket for use with a socket wrench.
A variety of servicing and maintenance documentation is included with the car along with an E-Type workshop manual for a 3.8-litre model, and two keys.
Please note: this car is currently registered with the DVLA as having chassis number ‘J691R26924’, though the correct VIN would be 1R26924, so the first three digits are assumed to be an administrative error.
CONDITION
The seller states the vehicle has minor oil leaks from the engine, rear differential and rear gearbox seal, and the tachometer only works intermittently.
The tyres are said to be in good condition, though the age is unknown, with the fronts having 6mm and 5.5mm tread remaining, while the rears have 8mm and 4mm.
The most recent MOT test was on 13 August 2019 at 50,108 miles, resulting in a first time pass with no advisories. The vehicle is understood to be exempt from mandatory annual MOT testing due to its age.
SERVICE HISTORY
The last maintenance was carried out in July 2023 by Revival Vehicle Restorations in Kettering at 50,753 miles, when a full service was completed including oil and filter renewal, spark plugs, fluid top ups, and the rear axle was greased on six points.
Additional maintenance work completed by Revival Vehicle Restorations includes a realignment of the bonnet, a repair to the driver’s window mechanism, and the replacement of the rear subframe mounts.
The car has been fully stripped down and repainted, and photo documentation of this work is included with the car.
Inside, a full interior overhaul was completed by Aldridge Trimming including reupholstered seats, new carpets, roof liner and dash top.
Other notable work completed on the car includes a left to right-hand drive conversion, replacement of the wiring, replacement front brake callipers, and the fitting of an aluminium radiator with an integrated cooling fan.
