    Color Red/Black

his example has been completely restored in the bright "Signal" red exterior and brand new black leather interior. The engine and gearbox, suspension, steering, brakes, exhaust and all running gear have been rebuilt to factory-correct standards. The chrome and glass are both excellent and the car drives like new. The engine is the correct 4.2 liter in-line six, has the correct Stromberg carbs as specified for the US market and runs very well, with no leaks or smoke. It has 83k miles on the odometer and is believed to be the correct original miles. The car has had longtime ownership for the past 20+ years and is "turn-key". It can be inspected in the Seattle area by appointment.

    Car was at auction 8/16

    Auction description:
    Lot 80
    1969 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES II 4.2 COUPE
Sold for US$ 60,500 inc. premium
    Quail Lodge Auction
Carmel, Quail Lodge & Golf Club
    Chassis no. 1R26912
    Engine no. 7R83189

According to this E-Type's Heritage Trust Certificate, it was built at the Browns Lane Jaguar Works on September 11, 1969. Denoted as a left hand drive Series II Fixed Head Coupe, the E-Type was finished in Signal Red over black interior trim, and fitted with a manual transmission. A US market example, the E-Type made its way to the British Leyland distributor in New York, where it would be sold to its first owner.

Although the Jaguar's early history remains unknown, the car is confirmed to have been in singular ownership from the 1980s until purchased by the consignor. A comprehensive restoration was carried out in 2010, where the cars factory-correct Signal Red exterior was professionally redone, and the car's mechanical systems were refurbished. It should be noted that at some point in time, presumably before the 1980s, the cars engine was replaced with a correct, 4.2-liter unit.

This striking E-Type is offered with books and tools, and the odometer reading of just over 83,000 miles is believed to be the car's actual mileage since new. In beautiful condition inside and out, this Jaguar presents as an excellent example of the late 6-cylinder E-Type Coupe, a model that looks like a great bargain today compared to its Series I predecessors.

Sold by Gallery Aaldering of Brummen in August 2021. Abbreviated and amended seller's description below.

    www.gallery-aaldering.com/jaguar-e-type-series-2-original-colours-new-interior-1 ...

We have acquired this lovely E Type Series 2 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe from the United States. It was sold new by the New York Jaguar dealer and the first owner kept the car until 1980. The car was fully restored in 2010. The E Type was repainted in the original Signal Red and the engine overhauled. The result is bodywork still in excellent condition with excellent panel fit, the powerful engine runs smoothly, and the 4 speed gearbox shifts well. In 2015 the interior trim, leather and carpets were re-upholstered and replaced at a cost of $15,000. The history file contains all the original books and a lot of recent documentation as well as the original tool kit. This is a very fine E Type with a fantastic 4.2 engine in great form.
