Sellers description:
1969 JAGUAR E-type coupe. Vin # 1R26846. Spectacular condition, with 70 miles on professionally rebuilt, matching numbers engine. Also new: starter (gear-reduction style, nice!), new alternator, new brake boosters and master cylinders. ALL RECEIPTS. This was a top-quality professional engine rebuild by owner, Jim Wilson, at JAGS UNLIMITED, San Diego. Correct NUMBERS-MATCHING block with complete rebuild of block components and head.
This car looks and drives terrific--no issues, no problems, no leaks. Everything works great. Even the clock works!
EXCELLENT exterior with glossy repaint with clear coat in correct factory color. NO RUST anywhere. Floors and frame rock-solid. Always a California car; I have old copies of title going back into the 1970s. I am only the 2nd owner. My title is free and clear.
Connally Leather BEAUTIFUL INTERIOR; seats and door panels like new.
Previous auction ended at $16,000 after 5 bids.

The Vin No is NOT J691R26846 but simply 1R26846. The confusion arises because either the Jaguar California Distributor or the California DMV added, for whatever, reason the J69 prefix. The J represents Jaguar & the year (69) the car was sold. My own car which I purchased in the UK in 2000 had retained this same J69 prefix on the V5 Title document some 30 yeras after it had been sold in California albeit that the JDHT Certificate excluded it. Very confusing until information on the Jag Lovers Forum clarified the matter.

Excellent Series II Jaguar E-type in great mechanical and cosmetic condition. The car is powered by the original 4.2-liter inline-six and 4-speed manual transmission. With only 68108 indicated miles on the odometer, the vehicle retains many unique original features, including original wire wheels and chrome bumpers. Extensive service and ownership history are included in the sale (please see photos below). The engine was rebuilt 7500 miles ago.
One of the best Jaguar E-type we have seen in a long time. Originally a California car, the car was imported to Denmark in 2006. The vehicle is coming out of Danish ownership and has a Danish title, registration, and papers. The car passed Danish Technical Inspection (Syn/MOT/TUV) and will not have to pass inspection until April 2025. A full inspection and service are completed in-house, and the car can be enjoyed as-is for many years to come.

Regarding the J69 prefix, above poster is absolutely correct. However once titled with the prefix it will stay with the car, its the title, the legal document to transfer ownership. Some have tried to remove it when shipped to another country as its does cause confusion but it is not worth the trouble for most. As we can see it's still with the car in Denmark.
