Car returns to ebay 11/9/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-1969-CALIFORNIA-XKE-E-TYPE-AMAZING-CAR ...
Current bid $1,125, no reserve, 2 bids 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be in in Palm City, Florida.

Sellers description:
The car you are looking at was purchased new in California in 1970. It remained a native of the "Golden State" until being transported to Florida in 2008. The car looks absolutely stunning in the pictures, but is not a show car - although we believe that it once was and that a ground up restoration was carried out approximately 20 years ago. At some point in it's history, it became a driver.

The car is very solid. I feel that if you are looking to enjoy a classic Jaguar, you would have to look long and hard to find one better. If you are looking for a ground up restoration candidate this might be your car! All of the gauges work except the clock. The engine starts right away, idles smoothly and pulls strong with no hesitation. The transmission is so smooth and quiet! The brakes take right on the top, and the steering is direct with no play. The car is as tight as a drum. As it sits in my air-conditioned garage, I see no leaks. The owner's manual is in the glove box.

As I mentioned above, this is not a hundred point show car. Upon close inspection, you will see several scrapes, dings and areas where the paint has chipped away. These can be touched up. The paint is fading in areas, but could be buffed. There is a scrape down the passenger (right) side. I have a new set of trim for the windshield seal.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
