This is a very nice car, original except for paint and chrome. Has taken 2nd in JCNA Driven Division, will one day take first. Has taken first Junior in AACA national competition.

I have maintained 1R26135 for the current owner from 2009 through 2018. The clutch assembly was replaced in June 2018 and the powertrain was detailed/inspected while removed from the car. New water pump and porcelain exhaust manifolds were installed in addition to hoses, Pertronix ignition module and complete fluid change (engine/trans/rear/brakes/clutch).

This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II coupe that is finished in Dark Blue over Dark Blue and was acquired by the current owner in 2009. The car is thought to have been owned by a JCNA judge in Oklahoma before it was brought to Pennsylvania in 2001. Power is supplied by a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, and an engine-out service earlier this year included the installation of a new clutch, water pump, and exhaust manifolds. This XKE is now being offered on the current owner's behalf with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a clear Maryland title.

The body is finished in the correct shade of Dark Blue, and the seller reports that the hood received a 2-stage repaint some time ago. Paint chips have been filled and touched-up, and remaining finish flaws are said to include a bubble around the driver-side louvers, a dent under the front valance, and some areas of checking around the body.

Chrome wire wheels are fitted with earless spinner nuts and Bridgestone whitewall tires. Per the seller, the windshield has been replaced and some of the rubber seals around the vehicle are dried out.

The cabin is trimmed in Dark Blue leather that has been partially re-dyed. Series II rocker switches and a wood-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel are retained, and the car is equipped with factory air conditioning, which is reported to be functional in this example. The tachometer and speedometer were refurbished in June by Nisonger Instruments of New York, and just over 40k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer.

Under the front-hinged bonnet, the 4.2L twin-cam six is mated to a 4-speed synchromesh gearbox. Pertronix electronic ignition has been installed, and an engine-out service performed in June 2018 is documented with photos. The work included installing a new clutch, water pump, exhaust manifolds, mounts, a resealed oil pan, and a fresh battery.

Additional undercarriage photos show the floors, dual exhaust system, and suspension components.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was originally built on April 16, 1969 and confirms the factory colors.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
