Car offered at:
www.antiquecar.com/category/For-Sale/Foreign-Cars/Jaguar/listings/33891/1969-Jag ...

Sellers description:
This particular E-Type, Chassis # 1R25919 comes to us as a matching numbers example that was delivered new to its ordering US customer right in Coventry, England as a Personal Export Delivery car. Then finished in British Racing Green with a black interior, 1R25919 was dispatched April 4th, 1969.

Today this example has just come out of much recent restoration and sorting. Cosmetically it shows as a presentable car, but by no means should be considered a show car or 100% correct per JCNA standards. The body work was completed by a local body shop; it is shiny, smooth, and straight for the most part. However, there is "orange peel" and primer shrinkage in a few areas. Overall, a wet sanding and comprehensive buffing would do this car justice. If the intention is to drive the car, not worry about it, and not show it, then one would be very content as is. The bright work is original and showing its age, the gaps and shut lines are okay, and overall the car is very consistent. The glass and rubber is in good order, and the tires show as only having a few hundred miles on them. There is however, absolutely no rust of any kind to be found. The rockers are clean and straight, the rear valence still has spot welds and seems and the nose is thin as well with no major issues in the way oxidation of perforation. The floors were completely replaced during the restoration, and show as new with all new hardware underneath as well. The rear carrier is clean and shows new bushings, seals, etc.

The interior is certainly acceptable as a driver, again, not perfectly correct but very nice and in no need of attention. All of the gauges are in proper working order and all of the lights, brakes, signals etc. are in working order as well. The seats, carpets, sills, headliner, doors, and trunk space are all new and show nicely. The spare wheel well is clean and rust free as well.

Mechanically is where this car strives, as according to the most recent owner, and evident by inspection, the entire driveline has been rebuilt. The engine is clean and runs very strong with great oil pressure. The entire braking system is new, as are many of the suspension components. All nestled into a clean engine bay that does not show any signs of previous accident damage or any issues to be noted.

Overall, we are offering a pure drivers car, not a show car, an E-Type that can be driven any time, even daily if desired without the worries of a nick or scratch to ruin the experience. With a lot of mechanical sorting, rebuilding, and cosmetic reconditioning inside and out; this is an excellent opportunity for any enthusiast. Please inquire with any additional interest.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
