Ebay item 9/3/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1969-E-Type-FHC-Restored-Stunning-Fresh-En ...
Current bid $19,100 reserve not met, 10 bids, 8 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
beautiful 1969 Jaguar Series II, 2 place Coupe (NOT 2+2). This car has been owned by the same loving owner for over 25 years who, over time, restored it to near show quality condition. It features beautiful cosmetics and is mechanically excellent with a rebuilt matching numbers 4.2 Liter engine and 4 speed, full synchro transmission. Condition is such that as it is it would show well in the Jaguar Owners Club Driven class. With minor detailing, it could be brought up to near concours quality. It is a fantastic running and driving example of one of the most legendary automobiles ever produced and has a stunning presence in red with black leather.
2 place coupes are rare and difficult to find. Once restored to this level they tend to be kept and seldom come to market. Not only is this car beautiful, but it is road ready as well. If you are in the market for a truly majestic automobile that is ready to use and enjoy then this may be the car for you.
ITEMS OF INTEREST:
* Full proper interior re trim including leather upholstery, vinyl trim, headliner & carpets.
* Long term ownership. (25 Years)
* New Dayton chrome wire wheels.
* Rebuilt engine.
* Rebuilt transmission.
* Beautiful paint.
* Jack, jack handle, knock off adapter and hammer included.
* Runs and drives extremely well.
* Michelin X Red line tires.
* New gas tank and lower sump.
* New exhaust header with ceramic coating.
INTERIOR - The interior of this car is excellent. It has been fully re trimmed with proper materials including new leather seats, proper high grade carpets and an all new headliner. Seat frames are very clean and the padding is firm and new indicating that this was more than just a quick re trim. The remainder of the vinyl trim looks new including the pieces in the back and over the spare tire well. The dash cover is perfect and the dash face is excellent featuring nice original gauges and switches. Seals and rubber look very good and remain soft and pliable.
The interior of this car is fresh and very clean. It is a joy to sit behind the classic wood rimmed steering wheel with the oversized tach and speedometer before you.
This car was assembled by someone who knew Jaguars and was able to make them look as they did when new. Nice finishing touches include new original period correct seat belts with the proper labeling and the rare, valuable AND working Phillips AM/FM/shortwave radio. Included with this car is the original style jack with handle and bag, and the knock off adapter and hammer. The spare tire well itself is excellent, very solid and features a new gas tank and sump.
BODY & EXTERIOR - This car is simply beautiful. The body is very straight and the paint is of proper luster and color. While perhaps not up to "Pebble Beach" standards it is very good and would be more than welcome at any JCNA event. For a driver it is spectacular. All jambs have been done along with the trunk floor, engine compartment and front subframes. After a thorough inspection we see no indication that this car has ever suffered major body damage. The bonnet fits very well to the body, the door gaps are good and the front inner aprons are straight and free of damage as well.
Chrome is excellent and much has been redone. The side glass frames are nice but not perfect. Windscreen trim is in place including the hard to fit rear trim although there is a small rub through in the chrome right over the right top of the windscreen. The bumpers and door handles have been redone to a very high standard and look beautiful. The glass all looks very good with virtually no scratching. The remainder of the exterior trim and lighting is very good with only the occasional slight sign of age. This car is simply stunning to see.
As for rust we could find only one small spot located in a non structural area, low on the rocker panel just forward of the right rear wheel. It looks to be localized and consists of just a few bubbles in the paint. The floor pans are straight, solid and show no indication of major rust or rust repairs having been made to them. This car has been driven and there is evidence of this underneath but it is free of a heavy buildup. Since it is free of the accumulation of years of driving, it would be fairly easy at this point to detail the bottom of the car if one were so inclined. It would certainly bring this car up a notch and with other minor detailing could be approaching concours level.
MECHANICALS - This is an excellent running and driving car. The engine runs smoothly and pulls strong as it should. It shifts easily and smoothly both up and down through the gears, benefiting from the full synchro transmission. It drives straight down the road with no vibration or pull. The engine and transmission have both been rebuilt and there is no indication any further service is needed at this time.
Suspension components have been re finished at some point in time and now are still mostly very nice although they have gathered a little light road film over time.
The engine compartment is very clean and all under bonnet items appear to be rebuilt, cleaned and re finished as needed. The front sub frames feature clean shiny paint. As it is, it is far nicer than your typical driver but not quite concours show quality.

Auction description:
1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe
Lot No. 1073
To be offered on Friday, July 17, 2015
Estimate: $ 75,000 - $100,000
Top-condition coupes are enjoying tremendous popularity and this beautiful example checks the right boxes. This car includes the original jack, toolkit, knock-off wheel hammer and still retains its original rare and highly desirable Phillips AM/FM/shortwave radio. Subtle performance improvements include a five-speed transmission, alloy radiator, custom exhaust headers and a smaller-diameter Moto-Lita steering wheel. The original steering wheel is included, as well as a DVD detailing its restoration by marque experts, a large book of receipts covering previous work and a car cover.
This beautiful E-Type stands today in peak driver condition having benefited from documented, limited long-term ownership. Major work includes top and bottom end engine components, new clutch and flywheel, as well as U-joints and prop shaft. Recent service fitted new Vredestein tires, anti-roll bar drop link bushes and vacuum hoses. The car received new frame bolts and lower ball joint boots and was further enhanced by refurbishment of the rear suspension with new emergency brake pads, A-arm mounts and IRS mounts. With limited miles since its upgrades, a fresh four wheel alignment ensures this E-Type is ready for the road.
