Ebay item 2/2/13
Motorcartrader.com is proud to offer this gorgeous 1969 Jaguar E-type Coupe. This car has been restored to its original and rare color combination of Dark Blue with dark blue interior. This beautiful Jaguar E-type was built on February 6th of 1969 and despatched on March 26 of 1969. The first owner was Mr. Everette Sperill of Charlotte, NC. From what we have gathered, he owned this car for a good amount of time. He most likely sold the car to a gentleman who also in NC and owned the car from 1983 to 2007. Just after this, from what we understand on the history, the restoration on the car completed around 2008. It then went to a Ms. Madigan in Alabama, where is stayed until late 2011, when we first purchased the car. In January of 2012, we sold this to a gentleman in Virginia who drove the car, but also kept it on display in his living room. In December of 2012, we purchased the Jaguar back as he was looking to expand his business, so the Jaguar came back home to Charlotte, NC.
This car runs and drives beautifully. The ride is very smooth and the car handles well. The motor is strong and has excellent compression of 150 to 155 psi on every cylinder. In addition, the brakes stop the car straight with no pulling either to right or left. Going through the gears is effortless and there are no strange noises. The AC does work and blows cold air. Everything is working as it should. The carburetors have been rebuilt and set up, so there is no hesitation at all. This is such a pleasure and easy car to drive.
To elaborate on the condition of this car:
Paint/body: The paint is beautiful on this car. There are some little chips and imperfections, but overall looks excellent. The body is nice as well and a magnet will stick to all body panels, doors, trunk and rockers.
Chrome: The chrome is very good to excellent with the areas around the windshield frame and side windows showing some age as they are probably original. The chrome wire wheels look newer and were replaced by the previous owner around 2009/2010.
Interior/Soft top: The interior of this car looks new. The carpet and headliner all look new as well. The color is uniform throughout with no major blemishes, just slightly more wear on the driver side as to be expected.
Wheels/Tires: The tires are newer as are the chrome wire wheels and knock offs.
Underside/floors: The underside is nice, clean and solid. The floors are in excellent condition with no jack marks on them or any damage. The rocker panels are also in excellent shape with no signs of repair of prior damage.
Engine Compartment: The engine compartment is clean and detailed. It is not showing excess wear, but not overly done either.
Trunk/Spare tire compartment: The spare tire compartment is original and it still has the original insulation lining where the spare tires rests. It has the original Jack, knock off hammer and knock off adapter.
Overall: This is a really nice example of a Jaguar Coupe. This is a car you take to local shows and do very well as it is absolutely stunning to look at and would probably be a people's choice favorite. In addition, it a lot of fun to drive and can be driven anywhere being very sound mechanically. It is what we would classify as a nicer show/driver type car, as with the case of most of our cars you can drive to enjoy and show locally or JCNA events, but it is not a trailer queen or perfect concours car. Jaguar E-types are great investments and the coupes have been achieving some solid appreciation. This is certainly one of the nicer Series 2 coupes we have offered.
This automobile is available for inspection in Cornelius, NC and by appointment only. All cars sold "AS IS" with no warranty stated or implied.
