In auction at Brooklands 30 November 2013

1968 Jaguar E-Type Series II Fixed Head Coupé (4.2 litre)

Registration HUM 131G
Chassis Number 1R25028
Engine Number 7R11106
Odometer reading 83,390 miles
Estimate £16,000 - £20,000

Requiring restoration, we have on offer today an American market left hand drive (lhd) 4.2 litre Jaguar E-Type fixed head coupé (fhc), imported from California in 1991. From its early Series II chassis number, we may determine that it was manufactured in 1968; however, it is registered as a 1969 car. Bodily, the car is better than at first glance. The vendor states, "according to our research, this is number 14 of the lhd fhc cars built and is therefore fitted with the earlier and more attractive series 1/12 bonnets". The paintwork is badly cracked revealing a previous blue finish and in the area of the left side, lower front sill, the battery appears to have leaked and caused corrosion. However, apart from a few scrapes and dents, the rest of the car looks remarkably sound; especially the bonnet and within the boot area under the spare wheel. Mechanically the engine starts, runs and displays good oil pressure. The twin Stromberg carburettors have recently been overhauled and the non over-drive gearbox functions well. The car sits upon four wire wheels with a fifth wire wheel as a spare. The interior also, is surprisingly not in as bad a state as you may expect. The car was tested at Mallory Park race circuit recently whereby the vendor informs us that it performed admirably.

This E-Type has its original American Certificate of Title and a UK registration document. With values of Jaguar E-Types steadily increasing, this seems an ideal opportunity for the Jaguar enthusiast/collector, especially given the keen estimate.

For sale on eBay

£650,000
E-Type Jaguar 1.5 Series 2 Seater Coupe Very Rare Owned by a Rock Legend !
Selling my E-Type Jaguar Series 1.5 2 seater Coupe LHD 4.2 ltr manual. Just had confirmation this car is part of Rock History.

This car has had 1 previous owner and has undergone a full back to the metal nuts and bolts renovation (all photographs available). The full interior has been refitted and is like a new car with stunning cream leather, matching trim, the dashboard plus the roof header. I had the paintwork lacquer coated to preserve its condition as perfect. The underside of the car is rust free and protected. The exhaust is stainless steel and new.

It is immaculate as you can see in the photos and drives beautifully.

Milage stands at a genuine 84000. The engine was stripped and fully rebuilt in 2017 by a classic car and E-Type specialist, it still has 7 months of the warranty remaining.

There are very few of the 2 seater coupes left and it is recognized as the most beautiful shape of all the E-Type models even the convertible roadster.

I would never ever considered selling this car as it took me 3 years to source one in this condition, this model and year. It combines the 4.2ltr engine of the series 2 whilst retaining the styling/beauty and handling of the series 1. The perfect combination. Plus the colour and interior combination I feel is the best by far. However I have knee and back issues plus I will be using in Europe from next year due to this I require an automatic with air conditioning. I have bought the car I need in America so I need to sell this one.

Any engineering inspection is welcome from AA to RAC or any E-Type Specialist. Any faults found would be addressed as part of the sale I expect my car to leave in as new condition.
