This Series 2 4.2 fixed head coupe is a matching numbers car; chassis number 1R20866, engine number 7R12724-9, first registered in Boston, Lincolnshire on 1st July 1970. It is finished in Old English White with French Blue leather interior, 4.2 engine, 4 speed manual gearbox and chrome wire wheels. Purchased by the current vendor in 2010 after it had been in dry storage for 12 years. It was then restored and recommissioned over a four year period by Bennicks Motors of Bury St Edmunds.

The body was stripped to bare metal, and all rust removed from the bodyshell. It was then treated, primed and repainted having new front wings fitted. The underside was waxoyled, all rubber seals were replaced with new bonnet beadings, sill seals, front and rear screen rubbers, lights, headlining, carpets and bonnet hinges fitted.

Mechanical works included rebuild of carburettors, new clutch including master and slave cylinders, new brake master cylinder and pipes, new disc brakes and overhaul of callipers, overhaul of handbrake mechanism, new suspension bushes, anti roll bar and radius arm brushes, new wheel bearings, new chrome wire wheels, new ignition system, new horns, new battery and new fuel pump.

Work completed in October 2015 and cost almost £20,000. The mileage then was 98,171 miles and since then it has covered 1,000 miles and it is believed it has done 99,108 miles from new. The car has 5 former keepers from new. This E Type is in really good condition and drives beautifully.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
