    Auction description:
True Greats An Important Auction of British and Continental Sports & Touring Cars, Toys, Models and Automobilia Saturday 4th December 2004
    Lot 248
1970 Jaguar E Type Series 2 Fixedhead Coupe
    Registration no: ODH 821J
    Chassis no: 1R20709
    Estimate: £12,500-14,500
Classically finished in red with black leather interior this lovely series 2 is described by the vendor as in very good general condition. The car is showing a mere 36,000 miles which is believed genuine as it has amazingly been owned by the same family from new, passing title from husband to wife in 1984 having been registered new on the 4th November 1970. Supplied with the car are a current MoT and V5 document as well as invoices for minor works that have been carried out on the car. In E Type terms the series 2 has never received the adulation it really deserves, unfair perhaps as the car has a better engine, gearbox and brakes of the earlier cars, but fortunately not the price tag. This well presented and genuine E Type is a very fine example of an affordable true British classic.

1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Fixedhead Coupé
    Registration ODH 82J
    Chassis Number 1R20709
    Engine Number 7R.11388-9
    Odometer reading 52,500 miles
    Estimate £42,000 - £48,000
Originally registered in November 1970, this all English, righthand drive from new, Series II has had a remarkably sheltered life covering just 52,500 miles from new. Having been regularly used, loved and documented by its five previous owners. Presented in red coach work with original black interior carrying a delightful patina of a sports car of this era, this example has recently had any remedial work necessary such as sills and rear arches and is described as running extremely well by the current vendor who purchased the car some six years ago. The history file is bulging with invoices and receipts which is a testament to the ownership and gives confidence to any buyer as to the genuine quality of this coupé, this combined with an MoT test certificate. With prices for E-Types ever surpassing expectations, this example has something that no restored or imported car can compete with, history, and bags full of it. Combined with a low mileage and originality, cars like this are in short supply and certain to be very popular.
