Entered at Bonhams BRDC Silverstone Historic Festival Auction, Northamptonshire 30th July 2005.estimate £28ooo-£32000 No Sale. Engine # 7PM615-9

Description:
“This is a car for all seasons, one that can give a huge amount of fun at test days or continue as a successful race proven contender in the new E-Type race series or HSCC championship.” - Jaguar World Magazine on ‘YLU 470H’, September 2003.
This E-Type 4.2-Litre Series 2 Coupé was acquired by former owner Roger Seymour in 1984, with the intention of creating an effective dual purpose road/race car. After 18 months in preparation, the car took to the track for the first time, at Snetterton, in 1986. Further development was undertaken in collaboration with Andrew Tart, then at Jaguar specialists Vicarage. Stronger XJ front suspension uprights were fitted enabling the use of ventilated discs and bigger calipers, while at the rear a bespoke, multi-link arrangement restrains movement under acceleration, cornering and braking. To obtain a power band broad enough for road use, a one-off camshaft was specially ground to suit. Elsewhere the engine remains remarkably standard, retaining SU carburettors and steel ’rods, while the reciprocating parts are lightened and balanced. Transmitted via a racing clutch, the maximum power output of 306bhp is allied to an amazing peak torque figure of 318lb/ft at 5,500rpm, with 260lb/ft available as low as 2,800 revs. The gearbox is a Jaguar four-speed fettled by ex-Browns Lane employee Alan George, driving a 3.31:1 rear axle. Following an accident at Cadwell Park, the body was rebuilt by CMC to incorporate extra stiffening.
In this more developed form the E-Type’s results began to improve, despite its retention of the correct interior, standard seating, steel bonnet and chrome bumpers. A total of 48 events were contested between 1986 and 2003, resulting in 43 finishes, an excellent reliability record. Always running near the front of the field, ‘YLU 470H’ won its class on virtually every outing, as detailed in the accompanying results summary. In addition, the extensive history file contains invoices totalling in excess of £15,000, expired MoTs dating back to May 2001, race pictures and photographs of the bodyshell rebuild. The vehicle is offered with service book, owner’s manual, MoT to March 2006, road fund licence to February 2006 and Swansea V5.

Car to be at Coy's auction 1/07

Auction description:
AutoSport 2007
Saturday 13th January 2007
Lot 131
1970 Jaguar E Type S2 Fixedhead Coupe Compitition
Registration no: YLU 470H
Chassis no: 1R20450
Estimate: £25,000-30,000
This E Type was purchased by its former owner with express intention of creating a fast road/race car. Andrew Tart of Jaguar specialists Vicarage was emplyed to undertake development work on the car, resulting in the fitment of stronger XJ front suspension uprights, vented brake discs and bigger calipers. While the rear suspension was enhanced with a bespoke multi link arrangement to restrain movement under acceleration, cornering and braking. The engine was uprated with a one off camshaft specially ground, and although standard parts are still retained in the engine, they have been lightened and balanced to produce an output of 306bhp and some 328lb/ft of torque at 5,000rpm. Mated to a standard four speed gearbox fettled by ex Jaguar emplyee Alan George and fitted with a racing clutch, the body was rebuilt by CMC to incorporate extra stiffening.

In all the result is a remarkably tractable car, one that could be driven to a circuit and raced as the original interior and bumpers remain on the road legal car. However once at the track it turns in to a very purposeful race car, as the results speak for themselves, a total of 48 events, 43 finishes, and class wins in virtually every outing. It is supplied with a large history file containing bills and invoices totaling over £15,000 for the work undertaken on the car, plus race results and photos. A service book, owners manual, current MoT and V5 document are also supplied. A fast road car, or very competetive entrant into the 'Powered by Jaguar' race series or indeed other historic motor racing event or rally.

Work includes Stronger suspension uprights, ventilated discs, oversize calipers, & a bespoke multi-link rear suspension. The engine has been uprated to race spec including a one off inlet cam shaft. Internals have been lightened & balanced. The engine is now outputting a genuine 306BHP & 328lb/ft of torque. A racing clutch is fitted transmitting power through an upgraded gear box. During the build the car was stripped for a bare metal respray. The result is a remarkably tractable car that can be driven to & from the circuit & raced, the original interior & bumpers having remained on the car.

Car returns to auction 1/11
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 225 - 1970 Jaguar E-Type 4.2
225 - 1970 Jaguar E-Type 4.2
Estimate: £26,000 - £30,000
Registration Number: YLU 470H
Chassis Number: 1R20450

Following suit of the line of thoroughbred Jaguars, this 4.2 has been modified to what the vendor describes full race spec. YLU 470H was purchased by its previous owner with the intention of creating a fast road/race car. The majority of the work was carried out by the well reputed Andrew Tart of Vicarage Engineering. This included making sure the racing spec engine was balanced and lightened with a one-off inlet cam shaft. This gives YLU 470H stacks of power, as it produces a genuine 306BHP and 328lb/ft of torque. A racing Clutch, was fitted, transmitting power through an upgraded gearbox.

To cope with this, sensible upgrades such as stronger suspension uprights, ventilated discs, oversize callipers, and a bespoke multi-link suspension have been added. The car is fitted with full harnesses and internal roll cage. During the build the car was stripped for a bare metal re-spray, complete with photographic record. The result of all this meticulous work is a remarkably tractable car that can be driven to and from the circuit and raced, the original interior and bumpers having remained on the car.

Once at the track it becomes a very purposeful race/sprint car. This is also apparent in the history file, where YLU 470H has results displaying many impressive wins and class wins. The car comes with a good history file and needs only minor modifications to compete in next seasons HSCC race events. It is supplied with MoT until 2011, UK V5 and a HSCC Historic vehicle form. This E-Type has clearly had money lavished upon it, and is now ready for a new owner to enjoy on or off the track.

First registered with the Greater London Council on 9 February 1970. It has returned for sale at Arun Jaguar and Specialist Car Sales of Pulborough. Mark Hughes of Classic and Sports Car described it as an E Type with a difference. Looking at it you notice only low profile rubber and a modified appearance to its mouth for improved cooling, but under the surface it has enough performance and pace to equal any modern supercar. Some of its most notable racing highlights are listed below:

Sept 88 - Oulton Park, HSCC RS Championship - 1st in class
July 91 - Donnington, E Type Challenge - 1st in class
July 91 - Donnington, 100 mile Endurance - 5th overall
July 91 - Pembrey, E Type Challenge - 1st in class
July 91 - Pembrey, 100 mile Endurance - 2nd in class
May 92 - Donnington, E Type Challenge - 2nd overall, 1st in class
July 92 - Pembrey, E Type Challenge - 2nd overall, 1st in class
Sept 92 - Caldwell Park, E Type Challenge - 1st overall
Mar 93 - Pembrey, E Type Challenge - 1st in class
Sept 93 - Mallory, E Type Challenge - 1st in class
Oct 93 - Snetterton, 6 hour Birkett - 1st overall
Sept 96 - Manx Classic Hill Climb - 1st and 2nd in class.
Sept 96 - Willaston, Pursuit Sprint - 3rd in class
Sept 97 - Isle of Man, Promenade Sprint - 1st in class ( 2 driver entry)
June 01 - Donnington, Lynx 40th E Type Anniversary race - 6th overall
Aug 03 - Donnington, E Type Challenge - 1st in class

Its competition history ceased in 2004 with its last race by invitation at Spa. It has since resided in private car collections enjoying only sporadic use. Since 2012, the engine and transmission have been removed, stripped, inspected and rebuilt by XK specialists, K and N Classic Cars. The engine work being completed by Jaguar expert, Peter Lander of Sigma Engineering and retains the specially made camshafts although the cam timing has been adjusted to standard settings to improve reliability.

Other improvements have included a full front suspension and brake overhaul and the inclusion of poly brushing throughout the front suspension and steering. The bonnet has been stripped and refinished and all under bonnet ancillaries either replaced or restored. This includes all rubber hoses and seals, fuel pumps, radiator, oil cooler, and all periphery items - essentially a nut and bolt restoration. The original exhaust system was discarded due to age and a complete new stainless steel 2.25 inch tubular manifold and straight through exhaust system fitted with the deletion of rear resonators as per lightweight E Types. The original competition wheels shod with semi slick tyres have been removed, refurbished and period Michelin tyres fitted - again to improve the car's road manners but also in keeping with the car's original HSCC documentation. £89,995.
