Car to be at auction 2/14
www.barons-auctions.com/details.php

Auction description:
Lot No:
Manufacturer Jaguar Cars
Model E-type S2 Roadster
First Registered 1970
Registration No XAA 17
Engine No 7R9270-9
Chassis No 1R1456
MOT July 2014
Colour Carmen Red
Offered here is a Series Two 4.2 Roadster, which has not been offered in the open market place for 43 years. The car was originally supplied to the first private owner by Coombes of Guildford and was originally registered CPB 340H. The car was registered XAA 17 by the second owner, who acquired the car in 1971 and kept it until 2003 (32 years). The third owner was a personal friend of the second owner, so the car changed hands by word of mouth and is only now coming onto the open market after 11 years of ownership,

The car has been the subject of a ground up, nut and bolt restoration and is offered in quite outstanding condition. As the phrase would suggest, there is not part of the car that has remained untouched, so a new owner will benefit from the extensive expenditure of the last owner. The car has covered less than 2000 miles since being restored in 2004 and has been kept correctly stored when not is use. It has remained in the same Hampshire town for 43 of its 44 year life.

The 4.2 XK Engine has been fully rebuilt and converted to run on unleaded fuel, the car runs a full stainless steel exhaust system, sits on chrome wire wheels from Motor Wheel Services and comes complete with a very rare Bermuda Hardtop.

This outstanding S2 E-type is offered complete with a photographic record of the restoration and an extensive file of bills and invoices. It is said to have been comprehensively waxoyled since being restored and remains in superb condition.

Offered complete with a JDHT Heritage Certificate.

Guide Price: £63000 to £73000

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
