Opening bid $22,000, no reserve, no bids yet, 9 days left in auction. VIN on this car is 701R13148

Sellers description:
Jaguar E-TYPE roadster (cabriolet)

Year: 1970
Engine: 4200 ccm
It is a classical car brought from the USA and ready for registration. Expert opinion and conservator certificate is available upon request. It can be registered as a regular or historical vehicle.

This car is in a very good shape - no rust or any other damage. It has all the original accessories. Its leather interior is not damaged at all – regular wear only. For its 36 years this car is in the ideal shape.

It will not be a very big effort to bring it to the looks of the car that just left the factory – the dream of every historical vehicle connoisseur.

The engine in this vehicle is a Ford one, installed into the original car by manufacturer in 1970. Nominal plate and papers from year 1970 list it as the proper car engine. Included in the price is an additional new 12 cylinder Jaguar engine that can be installed by the buyer.

The text on auction # 140047364358 now states:

"Included in the price is an additional new 6 cylinder Jaguar engine that can be installed by the buyer."

Factory-installed Ford, eh? Improbable, more likely impossible. Somebody got fooled somewhere along the line.

Ford didn't own Jaguar until about 1986. It was common in the late 60's and '70's for mechanics to swap out worn XK engines for Fords and chevies. No e-type ever came with anything other than the XK 6 cylinder engine, or after 1971, the V12.

someone give this car a proper home and rip that BS motor out of it and stick the 6 back in it!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
