Automobile; 1970 Jaguar, E-Type 4.2-Litre Series, II Roadster.
p4A.com item #60948
Category: transportation
Type: motor vehicles
Origin: England
Year: 1970
A 1970 Jaguar E-type 4.2-litre seried II Roadster, Chasis no. 1R 12850. Launched in October 1964, the 4.2-litre version of Jaguar's sensational E-Type brought with it a more user-friendly all-synchromesh gearbox and superior Lockheed brake servo along with the bigger, torquier engine. Apart from "4.2" badging, the car's external appearance was unchanged but under the skin there were numerous detail improvements, chiefly to the electrical and cooling systems, and to the seating arrangements. Top speed remained the same at around 150mph, the main performance gain resulting from the larger engine being improved acceleration. Like its 3.8-litre forebearer, the 4.2-litre E-Type was bulit in roadster and coupe forms. Changes to United States safety and emmissions legeslation prompted the revised Series II of 1968. The headlight fairings were deleted, enlarged side and rear lights adopted, while a thickened front bumper center section bridged a larger radiator intake. Interior changes included a collapsible steering column and rocker switches in place of the earlier toggles.
The car is finished in black with black interior and equipped with the desirable option of wire wheels, and has covered just 44,000 miles from new. Offered with books and service records.
CONDITION: The engine, brakes and clutch were totally rebuilt at 42,300 miles at Charleston Import Auto., Charleston, Sc. November 2000. The work and parts are warranted. A new leather interior was installed at the same time to make the car pristine. Everything on the car is working correctly except for the clock.

1970 JAGUAR ROADSTER
Series II E-Type
Original Paint, Original Interior & Original 6 with 4-Speed Transmission
This car only has 7,834 miles according to the current owner. The paint is original, the interior is original, nothing of any consequence has been taken apart. Nothing has been restored. Of course the car is a 4-speed. It is the very rare and beautiful Sable paint with a lovely beige interior and the wire wheels. The car sounds and looks 99% as it did on the day it was sold. The car has been babied for the last 45 years and the net result is an ORIGINAL - ORIGINAL - ORIGINAL SURVIVOR!
