Ebay item 7/8/13
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-Jaguar-XKE-Roadster-w-4-2L-Engine-/300930386981
Current bid $26,100 reserve not met 14 bids 6 days left in auction. 42k miles.

Sellers description:
I have owned the car since 1998 and drove it less then 500 miles since then. A Jaguar mechanic in Limerick, PA performed most of the mechanical work on the car. Almost $10k was spent at that time. Less then 500 miles on the Mechanicals, Brakes & Exhaust. About 5 years ago - New Interior & Top w/Rubber seals. 2 years ago - New Tires. The car runs GREAT!!

These are the things I can tell you about the car:
* The person I bought the car from told me that the original owner had engine trouble. Jaguar rebuilt the engine and it has less then 17,000 miles on it.
* The car was repainted sometime during the 1980's - There is some paint chipping on the edge of the bonnet where it closes and at the one front fender above the tire. NO DENTS.
* The battery may have leaked at one point. There is some discoloration on the body just below where the battery is.
* I just had it to my mechanic and the rocker switch for the headlight needs to be replaced as well as the wiper motor. While the car is running, he said there is a minor oil leak by the front pulley, but nothing while the car is sitting.
* There is a small gap between the top and the windshield but the chrome piece that attaches to the top is there but not on. I will put that in the trunk for transporting. There is also a gap between the top and both side windows as well.
* One of the knobs for the window is missing.
* An AM/FM/CD player was added at some point.

The engine and exterior are currently getting detailed so she will shine even better!! I was going to fix and touch-up the things listed above, but my son is attending college in the fall and I need to make my first tuition payment soon. That is the only reason why I am selling the car. It always turns heads and is a great car for someone. It is time for me to turn it over to the next person to enjoy. It will not take much to turn this car into at $60,000+ car. The person in Limerick wanted me to sell it years ago. He told me this is a great condition car for someone to do a full 100 point restoration to, but I sure loved to drive this once in a while just the way she is!!

Car returns to ebay 12/8/13
MotorCarTrader.com is thrilled to offer another great Jaguar E-type and Classic Sports Car. This is stunning and matching number Jaguar E-type Roadster Series 2 Roadster. This car was built on February 9th of 1970 and was dispatched on March 2th of 1970. The original colors of this great car are Regency Red with Beige Interior. From what we understand, this beautiful Jaguar E-type had only three owners since new and the mileage of 42,367 are the original miles. We purchased this car from the gentleman who owned the car for the past 15 years.

The previous owner had a new interior installed about 5 years ago. Also, the brakes and exhaust were completed less than 500 miles ago. In addition, new tires were installed two years ago. The car was a nice driver when we purchased it, but we wanted to go through the car and upgrade its overall condition. Here are some of items we addressed or changed:
We installed a new stayfast tan (cloth) top with new chrome trim and matching new stay fast tan (cloth) boot.
A new heater box installed with all new internal components and wiring.
New rear clam shells (chrome end pieces) on rear lamps
Newer wire wheels and new chrome knock offs (correct hex type)
Carburetors set up (emissions plates left open for more power)
Paint work done, wet sanding and buffing to bring back the paint(cracking etc.). Underside of hood stripped and repainted (was painted black when we first purchased). While not perfect, the paint on the car does have a few smaller imperfections from normal wear, but overall is very nice and is stunning with this color combination.
Underside completely cleaned, degreased and detailed. The floors are excellent originals and car does not have any rust.
New exhaust resonators installed
New dash top installed (original was cracked)
All switches gone through and headlights, panel and wiper switch replaced. The signal stalk/horn switch and wiring replaced (signal would not stay in on position). Everything works as it should.
Steering wheel replaced with another original style (wood was broken and needed refinishing). Also the steering wheel hub was replaced.
Engine compartment cleaned and detailed
New rubber floor mats
The engine is excellent with great compression of 167 to 170psi across all cylinders.
Radiator recored and tested
New door seals
New wiper motor
The chrome trim and bumpers have been cleaned and polished, but they are mostly original and show some wear from being original.
This car comes with the Jaguar Heritage Certificate (from the Jaguar Heritage Center) to confirm numbers and original color. This is a matching numbers car.

Overall, this car is a great driver. While, it is not a concours show car, it is one of the nicer driver quality you will find. A great car to enjoy, as it does perform great and is very tight down the road. In addition, it is a great car to take to local shows or Jaguar club events. It certainly gets a lot of attention where ever it goes, as it is a truly gorgeous color combination. The Jaguar E-type Series 2 Roadster has been appreciating nicely and this certainly is a beautiful one.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
