This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that was produced on February 5, 1970 and distributed to the US via the Personal Export Delivery program. It was acquired by the seller in 2011, and the 4.2-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission were rebuilt in 2016. The car is finished in white over black leather upholstery and features a black soft top, chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, Smiths instrumentation, a Clarion CD stereo, Pertronix ignition, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This XKE is now offered with a jack, hammer and wrench, Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a replacement data plate, service records, and a clean Minnesota title in the names of the seller and their spouse.
Finished from the factory in Cream, the car was repainted white some time ago while the front of the vehicle was refinished during current ownership. Equipment includes a black soft top, a louvered clamshell hood, a driver’s side mirror, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The front footwells were reportedly repaired during prior ownership. The glass was replaced in 2014, the trim was re-chromed in 2015, and soft top was adjusted in 2020.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are wrapped in 185VR15 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires showing 2021 production codes. Braking is provided by four wheel discs. The ball joint boots and retainers were replaced in 2022. The torsion bars were replaced in 2013.
The cabin features bucket seats and an armrest upholstered in black leather. Amenities include a Clarion CD stereo, a heater, and three-point seat belts.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline. Auxiliary gauges located centrally on the dashboard display battery voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 5k of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.
The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six was installed during prior ownership and is equipped with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. The engine was rebuilt by Midwest Motor Sports of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota in 2016, and work consisted of boring the block .040″ over, overhauling the cylinder head, installing a Bell stainless steel dual exhaust system, and replacing the timing chains, crankshaft bearings, fuel pump, engine mounts, and more as listed on the work history report provided in the gallery. An oil change was performed and a Pertronix electronic ignition system was installed in 2022, along with a chrome-finished ignition coil and replacement spark plug wires.
The four-speed manual transmission was also rebuilt in 2016, at which time three synchro rings were replaced, along with the clutch assembly and mounts.
The Production Record Trace Certificate lists a manufacture date of February 5th, 1970, along with factory colors and serial numbers.
The Minnesota title is listed as a “Duplicate.”
