Registration AMM821H
Chassis Number 1R1239
Engine Number 7R6131.9
Odometer reading 23,454 miles
Estimate £48,000 - £56,000

The vendor purchased this righthand drive 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster in 1989, shortly after the car had been restored. During his twenty five years of ownership he has had the car overhauled at a cost of over £35,000, starting in 1990 when he had the car repainted in his choice of colour; dark blue, followed by the fitting of a new wiring loom and new exhaust manifolds in 1995. A complete re-trim in beige was carried out in 2000 and in 2006 the next lot of works was undertaken including new wheels, new petrol tank and a rebuilt radiator with two new fans and new hoses. Two years later the rear subframe was removed and completely overhauled fitting new crown wheel and pinion, new hubs, new driveshaft universal joints, the rear brakes were replaced with new parts and when the subframe was refitted it was all with new mounts and bushes. At the same time in 2008 the alternator was overhauled and the car was fitted with a new brake master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder. The following year saw the engine and gearbox rebuilt, the engine re-bored and relined, new crankshaft, the flywheel lightened, new pistons and con rods, new timing chain and a replacement cylinder head with large valves fitted; at the same time the carburettors were overhauled and the starter motor and steering rack rebuilt. Five new tyres were fitted in 2010. In 2011 the front suspension and brakes were overhauled which included replacing the front lower ball joints, fitting new stub axle shafts and hubs and fitting reconditioned front brake callipers, also at this time a new fuel pump was fitted. Last year during the minor service the battery was replaced. This 1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires 28th April 2014 and the history file which contains old MoT's and invoices going back to 1972 demonstrating that the car has been properly looked after and maintained and in the current ownership has only covered 11,000 miles since 1989

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
