This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that was completed on December 18, 1969, reportedly acquired by the current owner in the late 1980s, and was refurbished between 2000 and 2016 by the selling dealer, Muncie Imports and Classics of Muncie, Indiana. Work included a repaint in dark green, a reupholstered interior, overhauls of the suspension and brakes, a rebuild of the 4.2-liter inline-six, and the installation of a five-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with a tan soft top, a stainless-steel dual exhaust system, Alpine AM/FM CD stereo, dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, air conditioning, and 15” knock-off wire wheels. Work in October 2022 consisted of replacement of the brake master cylinder, battery, fuel filter, and outer tie rod end boots. This XKE is being offered on consignment by the selling dealer in Muncie, Indiana with records from the refurbishment, a Production Record Trace certificate, and a clean Michigan title, listing it as a 1970 model.
Finished from the factory in Regency Red, the car was fitted with replacement door skins during the refurbishment, and the body was repainted dark green approximately seven years ago. Details include a tan soft top, a louvered hood, chrome left-side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome 15” wire wheels are secured by knock-off spinners and mounted with 185-width Universal Sport tires. Braking is via four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears. The suspension and brakes were overhauled and the steering rack rebuilt during the refurbishment. Work in October 2022 consisted of servicing the rear wheel bearings and replacing the brake master cylinder.
The cabin houses bucket seats that have been reupholstered in tan leather, along with color-coordinated door panels and lighter beige carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, a central armrest, lap belts, an analog clock with a replacement quartz movement, and an Alpine AM/FM CD stereo wired to Pioneer speakers mounted on either side ahead of the shifter. Paint loss is noted on the driver’s armrest.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of rebuilt Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 49k miles, around 1k of which have been added since completion of the refurbishment. Total mileage is unknown. The tachometer was rebuilt and the speedometer drive seal and drive gear were replaced in preparation for the sale.
The 4.2L inline-six is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rebuilt during the refurbishment. The choke cable was replaced approximately four years ago, and work in October 2022 consisted of an oil change and replacement of the battery and fuel filter. A replacement stainless-steel dual exhaust system was fitted in preparation for the sale.
The driveshaft was balanced and shortened to accept a five-speed manual gearbox in 2016.
The Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers.

With a December '69 build date and February '70 dispatch date, this car should almost certainly be registered as a '70 model year. Not important but interesting.
