Ebay item 6/6/14

www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-Base-1970-Jaguar-e-type-xke-Roadster-California-C ...

Current bid US $25,100 reserve not met, 21 bids 4 days left in auction, buy it now price $56,945. 45k miles.

Sellers description:

Very nice special order Jaguar E type, black on black, with full service history and mileage documentation from when it was new! The car was ordered new in Palm Springs, California. The first owner purchased the car on 5/27/1970 for $5,868.50. He kept a log book of anything done or bought for the car with date, cost and mileage. He keep the car till 10/24/1988 when he traded it in for a Ferrari. The second owner, also from Palm Springs, kept the car there till 2008. He also keep the log book, noting anything no matter how small that was done to the car. The third and last owner, who looked for a car like this for years, searched the country to find a rust free E type. He spared no expense on the car. The last owner did the following repairs done at the Jaguar dealership: All new rotors; rebuilt calipers; installed pads; replaced both master cylinders; changed fluids; replaced all fuel hoses; replaced all six shocks; replaced belts; replaced distributor, wires and plugs; replaced clutch slave cylinder; mounted and balanced 4 tires; replaced tie rod and ball joints; replaced all hoses; replaced coolant; replaced u joints; repacked wheel bearings and rear hub assemblies; drained and refilled transmission and rear end fluid; installed stainless exhaust system; rebuilt carburetors and much more. I have receipts totaling more than $14,000 in parts and labor. I believe that the third owner disconnected the odometer cable. I believe the mileage is still very close to stated miles. The work performed on the car was done in '09 and '10 with new tires which still have knobbies. The car was used very little after that time. I try to disclose what I know. The car has not been restored. It has had some touch ups over the years, which is also noted in the log book. The car comes with the factory hard top with a new rear window (not installed), all books, foot rest, homemade E type luggage, tonneau cover, never used spare, jack, tool roll and the original wire wheels. This all comes with the car. The car is number matching and matches the heritage report. The only defects on the car is the dash pad has a previous repair and a crack and the driver seat has a 2" split on the seam. Hard top will need some seals replaced and the rubber around the bumpers has some cracking. The car was just appraised and it was rated as a Number Two condition.

Engine number 7R9525-9 ; Chassie/VIN number 1R11866 ; Body number 4R6412 ; Gear Box number KE10784

The car is located outside Buffalo, New York. The car will come with a transferable New York State registration from the previous owner as New York does not issue titles on pre 1973 vehicles.

Sold for $56,945.

Although in very good condition when I acquired it, accompanied by meticulous records, I decided to do a thorough restoration of this gorgeous XKE. The vehicle deserves nothing less. It is now in parts with a superb restorer and the body is with another great paint shop. I expect it to be at or near concours level when complete. Should be ready by around October 2014.

An extremely rare and unique 1970 Jaguar XKE Roadster, this matching numbers, Heritage certificate holding, Triple Black E type (with its matching professionally restored hard top), was in great condition and very well documented when purchased by its current owner in 2014. After a comprehensive professional evaluation of the vehicles history and condition he decided to take the car to the next level and make it a truly capable, fully restored show car. After the evaluation of the engine and drivetrain, all of the components were removed, rebuilt and resealed as needed. The engine bay was then media blasted and painted in preparation for the installation of its fully refreshed, buffed, freshly painted and clearcoated drivetrain including engine, transmission, suspension and rear differential unit. While the drivetrain was out the car was disassembled, sanded to bare metal with its chassis media blasted, treated to comprehensive, professional, high-end bodywork and paint with all of its chrome either being replated or replaced. All of this work was beautifully documented, both photographically and with a complete paper trail. With all of the mechanicals completely refreshed and sorted and its paint and body work complete, it was reassembled with a complete new interior from seat covers and seat foams to the dash top, dash facia, door panels, carpets, interior trim and a new professionally installed cloth top. During the year and a half restoration all rubber items from engine mounts to cooling hoses to weatherstripping and suspension bushings were replaced. According to his heritage certificate this car was built in December 1969 is a custom order in triple black for its first owner in Palm Springs California. The car stayed with this owner from 1970 to 1988 then being sold to another Palm Springs owner where it remained until 2008. All of it service and repair records have been retained. After this stunning professional restoration the owner wanted to bring the car to be the best possible expression of an E type Roadster. He purchased an entire original new set of TRIPLE SU carburetors with their manifold, linkages and supporting parts which he had professionally installed and tuned. The original Stromberg carburetors and manifold will be sold with the car. Within the last year the car has received several documented maintenance services including a new battery, clutch master cylinder, LED instrument lighting , PerTronics electronic ignition and more. Overall this unique, high-end restoration of a beautifully documented XKE is a stunning car, in excellent show ready condition with the best possible upgrades and options and in very desirable rare colors.Price: $118,000 Negotiable

This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that was built on December 9, 1969, and distributed to the United States by British Leyland of New York. Refurbishment concluded in late 2015 with work involving refinishing the body in black over replacement black leather upholstery. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and additional equipment includes triple SU carburetors, a PerTronix ignition system, a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and a louvered front-hinged hood. Following the seller’s acquisition out of North Carolina in April 2021, the primary clutch cylinder, engine mounts, tires, air filters, and battery were replaced. This XKE Series II is offered with a removable hard top, a Jaguar Production Record Trace Certificate, a hand-written log book, manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment photos, and a South Carolina title in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in black, the car was disassembled, stripped to bare metal, and refinished in two-stage Glasurit Deep Black during the 2010s refurbishment. The chrome bumpers with overriders as well as various trim pieces have been refinished, and the antenna has been removed. An included color-matched hard top was stripped and painted. Further exterior details include a black soft top, a louvered forward-hinged hood, a left-side mirror, and dual polished exhaust outlets. The weather stripping, door handles, and headlamps were replaced under previous ownership.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured via knock-off hubs and wear Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in May 2021, while a matching spare is mounted under the trunk floor. GAZ shock absorbers have been fitted, and the chassis is said to have been lubricated under current ownership. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears.

The reupholstered interior features bucket seats trimmed in black leather accompanied by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Lap belts are provided for both occupants, and additional appointments include a black dash pad, a heater, a Jaguar-branded shift knob, and an analog clock. The Motorola push-button AM radio does not work.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure are housed in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 50k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was resealed in 2014 and is equipped with triple SU carburetors, an electronic fuel pump, and an electronic ignition system with a PerTronix Flamethrower II coil. A spin-on oil filter adapter is said to have been installed under previous ownership. Work performed during current ownership included replacing the engine mounts, air filters, and battery.

Block stamping 7R9525-9 is listed on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate as the engine number.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Various underbody and suspension components were media blasted and painted black during the refurbishment, while the exhaust manifolds have been powdercoated. The primary clutch cylinder was replaced in March 2021.

The body-colored hardtop was refinished in 2017 and will accompany the sale.

The Production Record Trace Certificate lists a manufacture date of December 9, 1969, along with factory colors and serial numbers.

The South Carolina title carries a “Not Actual Mileage” brand.
