Additional description from above auction (Sold On 8/2/16 For $72,000):

This 1970 Jaguar XKE OTS Series II was purchased by its second owner in 1971 and is being sold on behalf of his family's estate. The car features its numbers-matching engine and was modified with a European triple-carburetor intake and long tube header in 1971. This E-type has been repainted once in its 46 years and remains largely original inside and out. Unlike many XKEs, this car has never been fully restored and disassembled. It is sold with a New York State transferable registration.

The current paintwork is a dark blue single-stage job which was applied in 1978. Finish shows well in photos and shines up well, though there are some blemishes in the now 38-year old finish. The radio antenna is missing.

Chrome trim is complete and in good condition, including the bumper overriders front and rear. Lighting is all correct for a 1970, including the low-mounted turn signals and brake lights.

The convertible top appears taut and well fitted, with very clean lines around the window openings.

Correct wire wheels with the appropriate inner-outer spoke lacing are fitted, along with small-eared knockoff hubs. Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tires have good tread.

The interior is unrestored with the original wood-rimmed steering wheel and stereo in place. Red leather upholstery looks good for a driver and the door panels are clean with correct trim and arm rests still fitted.

Original instrumentation remains fitted and Smiths gauges have clear faces. Rocker switches were standard on Series II cars.

The 4.2L inline six is original to the car as confirmed by the attached data plate. The previous owner upgraded the car with a European triple-carburetor manifold and long tube headers for better performance.

The engine bay appears tidy with neatly routed wires, nicely finished painted surfaces, and cleanly polished metal. The air cleaners are not original, but could be easily swapped out for a correct-style unit.

The underside of the car is free of significant rust, as the car has only been used seasonally by the seller. There are dents present in the floor pans caused by improper jacking, but the underside of the car has otherwise held up well, The rockers, subframes and exhaust all appear to be in good condition.

The seller has provided a pair of period photos of the car, one with its long-term owner shown above who had the car from 1971 through his death in 2013. Some records are available from over the car's several decades with the second owner, though they are not complete.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
