In the current ownership for 34 years; fully restored including rebuilt engine and gearbox and only 3,500 miles since; matching numbers; factory hard top and soft top; nice number plate; a most appealing E Type. Originally light blue and registered MET808G, this Series 2 roadster was first registered in March 1969 and acquired by the vendor in 1988 when it was midway through a repaint in red.
Having previously owned a dark blue E Type, the vendor decided to paint this the same colour. The shell was stripped to bare metal, inner and outer sills replaced and outer wing panels. The shell was prepped and painted by Chris Brooke Motors, the engine block refurbished by Drake of Bradford. The rotating parts balanced by BAR Engineering. The gearbox was rebuilt by Stephen Braer, the rear sub frame and differential rebuilt by Dana Spicer, and the radiator re-cored by Derek Marston. The leather seats were renovated by Dave Stott and cylinder head rebuilt by Derek Watson.
Work came to a halt in 1992 when Chris Brooke died. The shell returned to the vendor who completed painting and reassembly of the car. The rear wheel arches were slightly flared to allow fitment of wider competition wheels. The car was back on the road in 1998 and lightly used to 2003 when the gearbox developed a rattle and had to be rebuilt. The car was repainted in its original colour at a cost of £7,400. It was not fully reassembled until 2011. Since then it has only be lightly used.
