• Extensively restored at a cost of €175,000
• Well documented file
This matching-numbers Series 2 E-Type was delivered new in the USA through British Leyland, New York on 3rd October 1969. Little else is known of the E-Types early history until 1988 when it was registered by Mr Berger Rosland of St Louis, Missouri (title in file). In August 1989 major work was undertaken by Just Jags of St Louis, including removing the engine and transmission; checking the engine; cleaning and replacing various parts; and fitting a new clutch, master cylinder and slave cylinder (see written note on file).
Later that same year the car was shipped to the UK and registered 'ANK 991G'. The 1990 MoT certificate records the mileage as 36,621. A Mr Roger E Whittall was the owner from 1989 to 2006 and various invoices from this period are in the file. In 2008 the car was owned by a Mr Jean-Louis Cassier in Orban, south western France with the French registration '1564TM81'. Various invoices show the change of a master cylinder, fuel pump, shock absorbers, brake pads and many other parts.
In 2012 some restoration work was carried out (dozens of photographs available) and the colour changed from Cream to Primrose Yellow. An insurance report was issued by the Cabinet d'Expertises CET in Castres, France.
The present Belgian owner bought the car at auction in France at the end of 2016 and started a thorough and expensive restoration with Belgium's Retro Cars costing more than €175,000 (invoices available). The interior leather was changed from red to black. All numbers match the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate issued on 19th January 2019 (on file).
A valuation report issued by the expert Jean-Francois Doucy on 30th July 2020 records the odometer reading as 49,144 kilometres and the Belgian registration 'OADV135'. This document details the work carried out and is illustrated with by dozens of photographs. Two more recent invoices: July 2021 at 49,481 kilometres and October 2021 at 49,728 kilometres record more work done to the brakes. Another report was written by the expert G Depaive of EAR in July 2022 at 49,804 kilometres.
The extensive file contains numerous documents; sundry invoices; old Missouri Title; UK MoT certificates; several French Contrôles Techniques; cancelled French Carte Grise; Belgian registration documents; and many photographs of work carried on over the years.
Notable features include a concealed cut-off device and a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel. Two sets of keys are included.
This is a wonderful opportunity to buy a thoroughly restored Series 2 E-Type in an excellent state of presentation and running order.
