Hello there, my father used to own this car. He sold it in 1993 and was wondering on whether you have any information or photos of the car now?
Many thanks, Ben Podolaka.

This car is mentioned in a letter to Jaguar Driver magazine April 2007 when owned by Ian Stafford.

He stated the car was painted in the rare willow green with black leather trim. There is a colour

Seller's description:

This is a superb driving, ultra-usable and very genuine UK supplied, matching numbers Jaguar E-Type Roadster that’s still in its original factory colours of Willow Green with Black leather upholstery. OOV 996G was manufactured on the 28th October 1968 and supplied new by Birmingham dealer P J Evans and comes with an impressive history dating back to the mid 1970’s. One of less than 800 UK Home Market Series II Roadsters, the Jaguar was in the hands of a Sutton Coldfield based antiques dealer during the early 1970’s and in 1975 sold to a Staffordshire based owner who kept the E-Type for 19 years. In 1994, the E-Type was sold by the E-Type Centre to a Jaguar enthusiast in Wakefield and after 22 years of ownership the car was sold to a retired motor engineer who lived just a few streets away. The E-Type was then sold by us in 2021 to one of our regular customers in Sussex who has further enhanced the presentation of this car throughout ownership. This very genuine original car has had just four owners in 47 years and we are delighted to have it back with us once again.

When the E-Type was purchased by its Staffordshire based owner in 1975, the E-Type had covered 63,000 miles in just seven years. In 1979 the car was subject of substantial restoration work to include a new bonnet, new underbody floor pans, new sills, a complete re-paint in the cars original colour (invoice from 1979 on file), re-trim as per original, renewed chrome work and during the early 1980's was treated to an engine rebuild with the mileage at 80,000 by this point. A large file of Martin Robey invoices are on file throughout the 1980's and the engine rebuild was completed by Autosprint Racing Engines in Birmingham. The engine was treated to new pistons, main and big end bearings, re-ground crankshaft, performance camshaft, cam bearings, cam followers, new valve guides, lightened flywheel, new oil pump and timing chain. Remarkably, whilst maintaining regular but very low usage, the E-Type has only covered 8000 miles since its mid 1980's engine rebuild, all verified in the vehicle history file.

From 1994 to 2016 with its next owner, the E-Type covered 5000 miles with MOT's and tax discs on file showing the car was in annual use. Over this period the car was subject of regular expenditure with invoices on file for upkeep and maintenance. In 1994 the E-Type was treated to further bodywork, wheel arches were taken back to bare metal and treated to repairs and paintwork as necessary. Invoices throughout the 1990's detail various mechanical work to the braking, suspension, steering, electric and fuel system and in 2008 The Hutson Motor Company rebuilt the carburettors, fitted new steering rack mountings, fitted a new fuel pump and replaced the bonnet struts. In 2015 shortly before selling the car after 22 years of ownership, over £2000 was spent on new engine mountings, new fulcrum shaft bearings, new rear hub inner seals, various new ignition items, new filters, new choke and speedo cables. After changing hands in 2016, the E-Type covered a further 1000 faultless miles in the car that included driving the car over to us from West Yorkshire. As a retired motor engineer with ramp facilities at home, the car was treated to a thorough going over to include removal of the rear subframe cage which was subsequently rebuilt with new brakes and suspension springs.

When initially arriving with us OOV 996G had driven over 60 miles to us and performed faultlessly. We supplied the E-Type to its most recent owner and carried out a major service, fresh MOT although not legally required, and supplied and fitted a new, correct steering wheel. The E-Type was then enhanced further with a brand new, re-trimmed boot set, re-trimmed under dashboard panels, A posts were re-trimmed to factory specification, as were both interior doors to include correct handle recess panels, dashboard stickers were replaced, and the dash and switch gear detailed. The under bonnet area has been hugely improved by stripping the underside of the bonnet and removing old protection waxoyl, the engine bay has been detailed, the radiator overflow bottle has been re-painted and the bracket replaced, mudflap brackets have been stripped and re-painted, mudflap rubbers renewed and many of the under bonnet ancillaries including brake and suspension items detailed. All chrome work has been detailed and cleaned including the chrome wire wheels, the underside and exhaust extensively cleaned, and some detailed external paintwork carried out.

The E-Type holds the road superbly, braking is sharp and efficient, and the car offers a fabulous driving experience. This has always been an exceptional driving car and when last with us, Jaguar World Magazine toured all over the East Coast of Yorkshire for a day in the car, they drove it over the North Yorkshire Moors, to various seaside towns and then published a major feature with some lovely photos - magazine with the history file. The engine is incredibly strong and fit, it holds excellent oil pressure, is very impressive under load offering brilliant performance and cooling remains correct.

OOV 996G is a lovely, well detailed example and presents as an honest superbly well-maintained older restoration. The bodywork is of a very good standard, the car is structurally exceptional and the paintwork of a very nice standard throughout . This is a really solid, straight and usable car that can be put into immediate regular use or long distance touring. The hood is excellent, the chrome work and chrome wire wheels are superb and the interior having been last trimmed in the 1970's looks nicely aged, honest and naturally has a true patina. The recent interior work further enhances the car. All the gauges work, the car appears very correct and it most certainly will not disappoint if looking for a usable, genuine UK E-Type. This really is a great buy; it's in a superb rare period colour, it drives beautifully, it comes with excellent provenance, history, matching numbers and is offered onto the market a very sensible price.
