This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster is finished in Signal Red over black leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. Produced in July 1969 and delivered new in Canada, the car was recently acquired by the selling dealer out of Ontario. Equipment includes a black soft top, an AM/FM radio, triple SU carburetors, and 15″ wire wheels. The clutch master and slave cylinders were replaced in 2021, while an oil change, replacement of the soft top, and updates to the interior were completed in preparation for the sale. This XKE roadster is now offered in Pennsylvania with a removable hardtop, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Pennsylvania title.
The body was refinished in its factory color of Signal Red approximately 20 years ago and is paired with a replacement black soft top that was installed in preparation for the sale. Additional features include exposed headlights, chrome-finished bumpers with guards, and taillights positioned below the bumpers. An aftermarket hardtop is included in the sale and pictured in the gallery below. Scratches are noted on the windshield.
Chrome-finished 15” knock-off wire wheels wear 205/70 Cooper Lifeliner Classic II tires. Braking is managed by four-wheel discs.
Refurbishment work in preparation for the sale included replacement leather upholstery for the center armrest and seats, which are accompanied by a matching replacement dash pad and carpets. An AM/FM radio is linked to speakers fitted on either side of the center stack, and lap belts are provided for both occupants.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts factory Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 62k miles. The tachometer and clock are inoperative.
The 4.2-liter XK inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The clutch hydraulics were replaced in January 2021 according to the seller, who notes a safety check and oil change were completed in preparation for the sale.
The engine-block stamping 7R6551-9 matches the engine number noted on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate as well as the replacement chassis identification plate and removed factory plate pictured in the gallery.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate indicates a manufacture date in July 1969 and lists the original colors, equipment, identification numbers, and distribution through British Motor Holdings of Canada.
