Seen at a British car show in Glendale, AZ on 11-5-2017. Pictures show that it is a Series 1.5 OTS and does not have a data plate. The VIN on the picture frame is for a Series 1.5 2+2 with an automatic transmission. There is currently a manual transmission installed.

The 2+2 was rebodied in 1990 as an OTS with all new Martin Robert sheetmetal; tub, bonnet, doors, boot lid. The car now has a late 4.2 4-speed.

This rebodied XKE Roadster has the iconic Silver over red interior, very attractive car.The car has no rust with good body gaps. Interior gauges are in good order and work as designed. This is a great driver with the 4.2 litre straight six married to triple carburators. The car pulls strong with a deep exhaust note for a very exciting sports car experience.

Looks like a really nice car. It would appear the donor tub for the rebody was an S2 tub (1969-71). Model year '68 exterior was identical to earlier years (1961-68) however the interior (safety equipment) and engine compartment (emissions controls) appear like the S2, the S1.5 moniker, never officially acknowledged however is used as a convenient way to identify the cars among enthusiasts.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
