Listed with Hemmings for sale at $17,500
Dealer's Description:
The Series 1 ½ E Type Jaguar is probably the rarest of any E Type made, being a transition model. Power is from the 4.2 litre, 6-cylinder twin overhead camshaft engine and is equipped with the automatic transmission, the only model 6-cylinder E Type available with this option. Going through the records we have it would appear the second owner bought the car in 1981 at around 57,000 miles and brought the car to California. In 1983 it was sold by Auto Trends Inc, a Jaguar dealer in North Hollywood, California. In the next few years it had one other California owner before going to the most recent owner who bought the car around 1989 or 1990 with a mileage at the 73,000 mark. We bought the car from this gentleman who lives here locally in Santa Monica, California. It was his toy and spent most of its life sitting under cover so the mileage now still only reads 78,798. We have no reason to believe this is not accurate as the car still has what appears to be the original leather interior and woolen head liner, and both, although they show some patina, they are not all ripped, torn or beat up. The dash is nice also. Body wise, the car has a great one, good panel fit, excellent chassis rails and nice floor pan. The engine is very smooth with very good oil pressure. The paint is tidy but by no means new and is probably only the second one it’s had. It has a few minor marks around it but again very tidy. This is another one of those E Types that 20 years ago you could find all the time, just a great honest E Type that you can drive until such time as you want to do any restoration work, or you just leave it alone and enjoy a very affordable and very presentable E Type Jaguar. We have given the engine bay a nice tidy up and detail, replaced the water pump, all the belts and hoses and had the radiator serviced properly The car has chrome wire wheels as well. Finished in British Racing Green with Black leather interior For more photos go to our web site @ www.carsclassic.com $17,995
